I hope that "being up early" reference is only pertaining to time - I wouldn't want to spoil your thread........
I am trying to clean up my act TBH, but I always seem to be encouraged out....hmmm dying to talk about Aber’s knob!
For ages we always won at home but couldn’t win away - but in the last PL campaign the results were reversed - can City break the trend and get a double?
Cardiff won 5 - 3 away at Southampton on 31st October 1962. George O'Brien scored a hat trick for the Saints but still ended up on the losing side. Playing for Southampton that day were Welsh fullbacks Ron Davies and Stuart Williams. I haven't got a clue who played for the Bluebirds that day. And before you ask - no I wasn't there
Barry Hole, Alan McIntosh, Alan Durban (Sparkey’s pal) and two from the magnificent Ivor Allchurch scored the goals for us!
Wish I was going to this game as I really fancy us for at least a point. I went there ages ago when City lost 3-2 under Jones. ‘Dave’ Ndumbu Nsungu was playing.
That's easy for you to say. I was there for the dodgy penalty 1.0 loss in 2009. Another tongue twister Quincy Owusu-Abeyie came on as sub for Whitts.
Not nice for him, but very good news for City. I did post that news on a Matchday thread that I put up yesterday and then deleted because I hadn't noticed Masky had already started one.
Hopefully the Hassenhuttl dead cat bounce effect is wearing off - there are signs of that their last couple of games. Burnley are crap but should have beaten them and the same in their previous game against Palace. Palace were far the better side on the day but couldn't kill them off. Southampton didn't deserve a point from either game. Can we go one better? I think so on this occasion in particular. If we play like we did at Arsenal then we'll come out on top, but which CCFC team will turn up at St Mary's? With the tragic recent events still so raw, there will never be a better time to get our second away win of the season.
That’s one of those games where you don’t know what result is best for City. Bit like Burnley v Brighton tomorrow.
Not so good news for you though are the returns of Hojbjerg and Bertrand. Hojbjerg is clearly our player of the year and Bertrand will give us a huge attacking boost on the left.
The line up today is going to be interesting. Who misses out? Arter and Camarasa are our best 2 midfielders. But weve had a massive turn around in form of Joe Ralls and i think Gunner has played better in the last 2 with the shape of the team and Ralls doing all the leg work. However Camarasas passing is vastly superior and could take us to another level again. Interesting selection if everyone is 100% fit. Ralls and Arter really have the energy to disrupt and get the tackles in. I think id play both and play Camarasa instead of one of the wide players.
Camarasa is wasted out wide if that's what you're suggesting - he needs to come throught the middle to be efective switching play left and right. If you mean play narrower then I agree but that 4 player "diamond" of Niasse with Reid behind him and Murphy and Pato either side worked well against Bournemouth. I'd keep that and start Camarasa (if 100% fit) and Arter taking the places of Ralls and Gunnar - both those should be effective off the bench later in the game if we can get our noses in front.
