I know his family were upset about players wearing black armbands a couple of weeks ago, to the point they were pulled from the evening game on the Saturday. Not sure this is happening at all grounds again, but I guess from the leagues perspective, having a silence or applause is going to get less potential complaint than not.
From what I've read black armbands will be worn by all PL players and minute's silence at St Mary's only. Which seems wrong to me. Why only at Saints? Surely all fans and players want to pay their respects.

Interesting...and I note the final conclusion that we are doing better than even the stats suggest possible and that our long luckless period may be coming to an end. Remember that we hold some kind of record for hitting the woodwork over the last couple of seasons....we even made jokes about it. The conclusion is that a major factor may just be belief.
