Anyone else here on it? Properly addictive when you get going Started a save with Hereford, got sacked after two seasons when a consortium bought the club and wanted another manager, bastards Exeter was next. They had just been relegated from League One and expected me to get promotion during my first season there, failed. Sacked again. I felt like the Iain Dowie of football manager. Struggled getting another job when suddenly..... Dead last in bloody League One 2021/2022 when I was appointed Batty,Milinkovic, Mannion & Will Grigg being the stars of the team (odds on that happening 3 years from now?) Despite going my last games undefeated.... Heartbreak ending. Corner kick, 94th minute. "We are staying up, say we are staying up!" echoes around the Keepmoat Stadium. Their defender rises like a salmon and heads in the devastating 2-2 goal. At the same time news spread that Forest Green have scored a winner in the 93 minute. The Doncaster fans start singing "Who are ya" as the fiasco is completed. We're thankfully not equally as **** in League Two. Mannion became a pain in the ass during the January transfer window, so had to let him leave. Doubt you'll recognize many in the starting line up Dale Stephens in the midfield. Tymon has had one hell of a boost in his career. Regular for England in the WC Anyway. Anyone else?
I feel your pain mate. I had a spell at Dundee United after starting unemployed. Won promotion as champions when my goals for the season was Scottish championship top half. Spent no money, was holding my own in the Scottish premier, when we were favourites to go back down. got sacked with us sitting comfortable in mid table.
Ouch I haven't played since like...FM12. Took bloody Blyth Spartans up to The Champiship (after many many annoying playoffs) Had a bad start and got bloody sacked. It's only a game.....but I did feel a little bit betrayed
I’ve played it for years, back when it was champ manager on the Amiga. I dread to think how many hours I’ve spent on it
You've ****ing lost me there mate. All I do is go to work, pay the bills, drink bitter, eat food now and again, look after my family and support the Tigers. Anything else is irrelevant really. No time for that sort of ****e as life's too short and too hard to care about much more than me and mine.
I play it almost constantly, the fact i am allowed my own laptop at work meansi play it even more. currently managing atalanta, just won them the coppa italia and finished 2nd in serie a, hopefully i can get them movign even further forward
I don't play it anymore either but each to their own, right? Drinking bitter might be your way of relaxing, Football Manager might be somebody else's.
The new one is quality. I never manage City as a first save, but they did alright and got promoted first season. They then got taken over by some Russian bloke and are now comfortably mid table. Will Mannion trots out for Arsenal and England. I start unemployed and wait to be offered a job, first one I got was Aalesunds FK in the Norwegian First Division. Got promoted and somehow won the Cup (four penalty shoot outs in four rounds), got into the Europa League group stages (no further, finished third in a group with Real Sociedad, Lokomotiv Moscow and Shamrock Rovers). City let me have Angus McDonald, who went on to be an icon for the club . Loads of fun, hours disappear.
Hahah Yeah, always some proper weird situations. Grosicki is a scout on this save... 34 years old. Judging ability: 1. Judging potential: 1 Feels like he's made some dodgy decisions But yeah, regarding the above. I play it because it's relaxing. Easy to play basically whenever, can have the laptop with me in the kitchen. Makes boiling pasta a bit more entertaining. And I guess we all got different circumstances. I'm still a student at Uni, if I don't study or drink....it's a decent way to relax. That or writing. I don't really bother with what others like. If some enjoy modern art, cool, if some prefer drinking bitters, fine. Even if it's not up my alley. I wouldn't come up to the modern art people and say that it's a waste of time tho. Don't see the point THAT if anything is a waste of time.
I took charge of City. 1st season was tough, finished 12th. 2nd season i was 3rd, Allams got bought out by someone called Lee Burgess and made us a PLC. Won the league and got given some money, and currently 14th in the PL at the end of October!
