Linesman Axed Blundering linesman Simon Beck has been axed from this weekend’s matches after his gaffe in Liverpool’s draw with West Ham on Monday. Beck allowed James Milner to cross for Sadio Mane to open the scoring even though the former Manchester City midfielder was blatantly offside when he received the ball. The Hammers struck back to earn a point, but boss Manuel Pellegrini is still angry with the official’s performance after the final whistle and the PGMOL are understood to be sympathetic to his point of view. Beck has been spoken to by his bosses and “given the weekend to go shopping” according to Mirror sources. Get something nice, Simon. Or a decent pair of glasses?
funny they only seem to punish officials for mistakes that cost points to teams against us. what about the refs who have let kompany off with blatant red cards this season?!! we see stupid offside goals given most weeks don't remember any get dropped for it? anyone?!!!!! couple of seasons ago when sterling played for us against city and was about 4 yrds on side but given off, did the linesman get dropped? doubt it yeah we know officials make mistakes all the time, but why do they only get punished when it benefits us. hardly surprising when you see and hear ****e like this people think there is some dodgy ****e going on ffs!!!
The PGMOL had to be seen to act in this instance. Our player was so far offside that any one could have seen this never mind a trained professional. And what happened to the Origi one? It was so far offside that again the same should have applied to him. He was only let off because a goal had not been scored but the mistake was as bad.
But why are they not consistant? Not shouting conspiracy, but they only seem to act if we benefit. If we had been on receiving end of that same punishment? Doubtful sadly
No surprise that the benefit of the doubt or 50/50 decisions almost always go against us with this kind of punishment/training PGMOL
Disallowed Mane's goal against Arsenal was another one this season. We should have been 2 points better . Some people are of the opinion that these decisions cancels themselves out. This is one reason I would support VAR next season.
It’s clear that PGMOL have ensured they are now even, Milner was so far offside that cross came from behind my sofa.
In that match the same Lino also called us offside twice when we weren’t and one of them we were inside by roughly the same amount he got wrong with us in first place. Also wham goal should not have stood - both were poor poor decisions Officials terrible atm Fairly certain city had a goal chalked off incorrectly that was costly the other week too (Newcastle) VAR would have sorted all three of those I feel
there was a foul on keita to prevent him covering antonio's run to be clear in and score. I'm confident no ref would ever blow it up but VAR would rule it out.
Oh that, meh not sure. Said at the time I’d be interested to see what VAR does for them at as technically he blocked him and didn’t play the ball but happens so often that refs just let it go.
