IMO there are two classes of mega rich.

the plaything owner (ambramovich) who are not mega rich cos they give things away. Ambramovich might have wanted someplace to take his rich oligarch buddies when not showing off his latest mega yacht but he still ran cheslea into an actual business after his investment.

the oil country seeking global stage. The city or PSG. these are the REAL issue IMO. The money going into city is fake, we all know it. the stuff being built in regards u23 stadium is just folly but its all about the brand of that country... biggest best blah blah. City are not a business therefore.

After 5 years cheslea were no longer on another level to utd say.. they were on the same level trading in the prem. arsenal took a step back due to stadium. IMO Utd, Us, Cheslea... all the same level now.

Spurs are below us in terms of spending power...

but city are another galaxy they will go buy 3 or 4 players again.. the fees could be anything.. they simply don't care.

Fernandinho, silva and aguero aas well as kompany must go as they age out. Especially if they lose in CL again (and that defence is ****)

It's called player amortisation as in the transfer fee is spread across the length of the players contract. Example: £50m over a five year contract is amortised by a club in its accounts to the value of £10m per season.

That is why I said we HAVE to win the title this season. Those who think that next season will be easier are living in cloud cuckoo land.

Its never easier but in my view:

    a) LFc will improve again next year. It might be incremental based on just those extras (but getting rid of moreno alone will mean we go further in cups <laugh>)

    b) City can't improve much, they''ve actually been worse this season, not as domineering and letting more goals in. Pep is reaching end of his tenture too he never lasts much longer. They can add depth at back and keep it going though

    c) Utd: IMO are and were in false position due to mourinho lunacy since july 1. they will be top 2 or 3. is that 80 points? who knows.

    d) cheslea : don't know. its so inconsistent now. it doesn't feel right so Who can tell what will happen or what team will be

    e) l'arse... i think they will improve again possibly a big leap but will have to spend to do it.

    f) spurs... poor old spurs <laugh> all players signing up again but its very hard keep what they are doing up for the mid term. we will have to see.

This year utd have been off the pitch, but we've had a great run thus far no matter who was with us in the table and that level would stand up any year imo.

The issue for me is the league very soon looks to be ended up as a top group (not sure how many clubs will be in it) and the rest who are cannon fodder. The league will be decided by results between the top tier teams.

Sorry to say that IMO this will not happen. Things have really gone for us this season. Until the last few games. we have not dropped any points against any non top 6 sides. Not a single point. This is not normal and has never happened in the premiership AFAIK. Even City has dropped some points against those sides. A last GK error at Anfield. 2 deflections against the mancs at Anfield (when they were 7th I think) and yes despite astro's comical assertions of referee bias against us we have had a lot of the decisions going FOR us too.

City will of course be around. The other mancs will not have the Mourinho chaos to contend with. We'll be doing well to be in the top 3 challenging whatever happens this season.

Yes its the same as buying or selling something.

For example i sell a car as a business.. someone hands me cash. I have to account for that cash today on the P&L etc etc etc

Now I buy a car... well theres ways and means to buy that car, lump sum, payments plan etc. but the point is I now have an asset. As I have an asset I can start to depreciate that asset over its life (as the teax man will allow)

bring that back to a player. He signs a 5 year deal, in effect his value is dropping every year over 5 years. I can therefore in effect write him own over the 5 years so the big bang inst all up front.

This is why a new contract for a player can be a good thing for clubs and player alike,

    Why wouldn't we improve.

    a) Alisson is a big addtion but going nowhere
    b) VVD in prime
    c) Robertson in prime
    d) TAA will improve again
    e) Gomez will certainly improve.
    f) moreno will be gone (thats worth a lot imo)
    g) Fabinho might grow legs
    h) keita has huge improvement to come)
    i) ox will be back
    j) the fornt 3 are all on long contracts
    k) i ASSUME we will get in better cover or competition for the front 3.

Are we confusing improvement with Circumstances?

If we are purely talking 60 points after x games what a great year.. sure i get you but my point is we may have had a fit front 3 all year and that went our way so here we are... (go lucky a bit) but next year with IMPROVEMENT we might get to similar position with the ability to cope with said injury.

this year we went out of both cups in first round. That poor IMO and can be improved on big time
This year we CRAWLED through CL. that could well be improved on, just get a 2nd seeding and we will prob have easy group.

Yes we had a lovely run in the league thus far.. but who's to say city will have this many points either? IMO we will be better able to cope next season than this.. thats what i am saying. No a prediction of points.

You're a natural pessimist though carl. After a great season, last season, you probably would have said the same coming into this year. Nobody can say what will or won't likely happen next year but we're on an upward trajectory with no tangible reason to say it won't carry on.

Right now the only thing that could derail us is Salah transfer for 200mil.

everyone needed to be is on long contract (like spurs), manager is going nowhere

I doubt he meant improve on this seasons points haul. I suspect he meant improve the squad.
