I'm guilty of defending him to the hilt on here. And I now admit that I was probably wrong to do so.

He'd proved himself to be a competent manager at Everton over a long period of time. He got more right than he got wrong. That should have made him sufficiently competent to manage Sunderland.

So when it didn't happen then it had to be the fault of factors around him.....that's what I thought at the time.

However, clangers like not being able to keep the big German lad fit, signing horrendous players, and removing all motivation from the team is down to him

Never wanted him and got pelters on here for saying so from Day1.

Same with MON, Coleman and the ginger one before him. I got pelters a plenty from loads on here.

I take no comfort from being proved right, tho an odd apology would’ve been nice.

I just think by that time everybody was caught up with their hatred for Ellis Short and everything was always going to get pinned on him. We'll never know, but I truly believe that if Sam had stayed, the next season we wouldn't have even been in a relegation scrap.

When he was manager he had my full support, just like any other manager.. It is easy to come out with comments in hindsight..

It's not just comments in hindsight though. when moyes said its a relegation fight after the 3rd game, I was thinking "oh ****, we're in trouble here". I bet his motivational talks to the players were bloody amazing.

Any player or manager has my support while they try their best. Moyes gave up after 3 ****ing games.

It was his transfer window comment as well . ''Don't expect any signing to be better than what we've got'' So, if you're a current player, I think you're crap and I'm looking to replace you, and if I'm signing you I think you're as crap as what I've got.

I backed Moyes cause I feel it's my duty to give managers time. I make no apologies what so ever cause the discipline I've had to show with Moyes, Poyet, O'Neil and Grayson, I should be given the freedom of the city. I never got on their back, I did everything I could as a Sunderland fan for them to make it work. Even though the footy was ****e and they were on a hiding to nothing.

Aye just re read it and my mistake (soz @Brian Storm )

As you say, technically Allardyce wasn’t a manager anywhere when he approached van Aanholt so it’s probably a loophole he knows how to exploit!

I'd never chant against a manager, and I tried my best to give moyes time but it was a train wreck from very early on, and most people knew it, even if they supported him out loud.

Di canio, mon, poyet grayson etc were all poor appointments in retrospect and things weren't right, but at least they had personality even if they weren't the best managers . Moyes was as inspirational as a plank of wood. I'd honestly prefer to listen to May bang on about renegotiating the EU deal, than hear moyes give another post or pre match interview. **** knows how he did so well at Everton, players must have been taking something to pep themselves up.

Still guilty of a soft spot for PDC, between the media and fan pressure that man was given a ridiculously short run of games given he was handed a transfer window he had no say in what so ever. In that short run of games he give us a our first derby win in God knows how long and kept us up. I think he was shat on personally. The players he received weakened us. Short and De Fanti were the problem with PDC reign and to an extent Poyet's, who's undoing was failing to realise we'd need millions we weren't getting to play his style of football effectively.

Agree with all that, mate. He was prepared to come in and smash the player power that we had at the club.

Didn't De Fanti sign the likes of Cabral, Karlsson, Mavrias etc? Shocking times.
