I can see it being Best. Think Pardew wanted to focus the team on supplying Ba (said something about him getting 15-25 goals), and he doesnt appear to rate Best.

If Ba plays on Monday I will judge him then. He should be fully fit now that he is eating properly.

Agree, looked very sharp in the Fulham game as well.

Is it pretty much decided that Ben Arfa will support the striker?

I think so (and hope so). He played his 2 pre season games there and Pards said he would last season. I'd like us to have a central threat instead of relying just on wingers.

I just fear that we will need more than one out and out striker there.

This will be fantastic. If Ba quickly gets back to the form he had at the end of last season and we have Ben Arfa playing right behind him it'd be a pretty scary strikeforce.

Take away Ba's goals last year and he wasn't that good to be honest. His all round game was lacking and his poor touch led to a lot of break down in play. I don't think Ba will scare many to be honest. As I've said before though Pardew viewed him as back up, therefore knowing he wasn't a top striker so it is wrong to expect him to fill the shoes of the guy who never arrived. Ba will do his job which is to provide back up and get around 10 goals.

Saying that I think if Ben Arfa can stay fit he could make light of our striker problem by making the likes of Ba and Best look good. I don't want to heap it all on his shoulders but there is no doubt he is the one player who has the potential to be something a bit special.

Hopefully but like I said before, I fear that we will need two out and out strikers on the pitch.

i think at home we should have two strikers
but away from home we need a 4 5 1 to keep the ball better anyone think marveaux should be given a chance against qpr in the position benny would be playing when he comes back>?

Ba's gonna come good and get 13 despite spending time out injured. Best second top with 9. Good spread of goals through the rest of the squad.

Front six has to be, with everyone fit, the following...

    ---------Cabaye--------Tiote-----------

    ---Jonas---------HBA-------Marveaux---

    ----------------Best/Ba-----------------

With Obertan rotating with Jonas and Marveaux. The back up for the AM three would be...

    --Obertan------Vuckic-------Sameobi----

Yeah, have you not noticed that we have had a good start to the season? What ever Lawro says is usually wrong!
