Absolutely, in fact, people often entrench themselves in this position with a sense perceptive superiority, because they "have seen something in a player that others are not good enough judges to have picked up on".
Yes, but that kind of person is hardly likely to rile neighbouring fans by shouting adoring messages at a player.
So you get angry when the dick next to you shouts encouraging things at the players??? I think its the SHOUTING that's the point. You should only SHOUT at the officials. Its the Law (Sorry Tom ... only from a distance obviously)
I wasn't talking about the shouting at a game so much, meant more that people will defend a player that is generally not very good in the same way that people will lambast a player over every little mistake. See me with Ramirez. Either way when the tide is going in one direction in the fanbase it is very hard for a player to turn it
Who do you think has been overrated and given an easy time by the fans in the current squad then Magic?
Ward-Prowse 100% He has been average to poor for years but gets a free pass mainly because he is academy but also because he has a decent set piece on him. In fact, he is the same age as Elyounssi who has been written off by most after about 6 months. If we had signed JWP from abroad last season fans would be fed up. Seems to have improved under Ralph - but who hasnt?!
A colleague of mine, a Leicester fan, was telling me the other day about a guy who sits a few rows in front of him near one of the corners at their ground; apparently this guy spends at least half of every match shouting all sorts of abuse at the linesman, whether warranted or not. Better than shouting at your own players I suppose, but even so, why? It’s not going to improve the lino’s performance.
Fair enough!! All have different opinions. I do understand it to an extent - its brilliant to see academy lads succeed. Also i should add the fact his workrate is top notch also bought him time, rightly so.
We are all influenced by what we see and hear and, although that opinion may change with subsequent events, we hold onto our original opinion with varying degrees of tenacity. Anyone who thinks they arrive at their own (completely correct) opinions by only rational thought is deluding themselves.
The two that spring to mind are McCarthy and JWP, not that they are bad players just nowhere near as good as a lot make out in my view
I've always thought that JWP has suffered from not having an extended run in the team and Pellegrino and Hughes tended to rely on "older heads", maybe he has found the right Manager for him.
This sounds like something a fair few of us were saying about a certain foreign player who was bitched at by the fans and now has been shipped out on loan, wonder why that never happened with Prowsie? I think he is an OK PL midfielder, he doesn't have the physicality in my view to really excel but is a useful option. I still maintain that if he is name was Johannes Von Prowse and was signed from Wolfsburg a couple of years ago the fans would've wanted more
Sorry I meant the fans moaning at him, wasn't clear in my post. He is an articulate, intelligent, home grown player so gets a lot more slack than others. Perhaps I am different as I couldn't give a toss where the players come from, if they can barely talk and act like complete bell ends all the time (within reason) as long as they are good at their job
Ive said for a little while now right back might suit him more, dependig on how he copes with defensive positioning etc. He isnt strong enough to be central, not intricate to play behind a striker, not quick enough to be a winger. Yet has a great delivery, absolutely tireless, if he could learn to defend it could work. Right wing back perhaps more suitable.
Think our fans that put down JWP are ridiculous. He was quality under Pellegrino at times, despite being in and out of the side. CM is a position where players peak slightly older, as you have a lot to learn. 24-25 is the age where you’d expect him to impact games and OH WAIT. He’s doing exactly that.
