Love Dusty Springfield's version of "Windmills" - it's one of those songs that is oft covered but rarely done justice Dusty nails it
60 years ago today - “The day the music died”. J.P. Richardson is often overlooked. I love this song .....
Heard these local twin sisters from Hampshire live on Ken Bruce's show earlier and their harmonies sounded really good. They remind me a bit of First Aid Kit and have passed me by until now although I usually discover new music from other sources. After a quick search of Youtube I found this nice cover of Carole King's classic to illustrate the point...
Saw and met them last year at the New Forest Folk Festival and they were excellent (and very nice people too). Really hope they go on to be really big as they deserve it (and the signed CD I have of theirs will be worth money ). Very talented!
The world lost one of the guitar “greats” 8 years ago today. I discovered 3 years later that he lived next door to my cousin in Brighton and she used to “pop in” occasionally to listen to him practice I was lucky enough to be at this concert to see the utterly brilliant Robert William Gary Moore. One of the best gigs I’ve been to .....
I didn’t hear who they were, but heard them singing. They were excellent. *clearly I’m too cool to listen to radio 2 and Ken Bruce - I must just have pressed the wrong button
Kylie’s Greatest hits, Xmas album, latest album.... for sure. Radio 1? I don’t think I’ve listened to that since “Mike Read, Mike Read, 275 and 285, National Radio One” or “oooh Gary Davis on your Radio.” I am 50 this year!
I’m pretty much the same. I do stumble across Steve Wright in the afternoon on R2 now though every now and again. Used to love the Radio 1 roadshows they used to do. Went to loads at Bournemouth beach back in the day To be fair I find myself listening a lot to Radio 4 nowadays...maybe I may be 50 this year too (though after fats )
