If we get good I'm finished with this club. I have institutionalised misery. Thankfully looks like there is no danger of that happening just yet. A player who has excelled in the football retirement home, is weaker than Perez and worse at finishing, for a fee that might be our record but is very little in the market, surely cannot be the difference between this team playing ****e or great. I am eager to see if the hype is worth it, I hope it is. Meanwhile, signing someone from Monaco 5 years ago would have been amazing... But it's more Mcrappy than Mbappe now.
It's amazing the outpouring of emotion on the back of one amazing result and signing a really good player. Obviously I'm delighted with both, but it just goes to show what a choke-hold Ashley has on our footballing throats! Pleased and delighted, respectively, but always mindful that it's Ashley doing the bare minimum to keep his cash cow producing the TV money.
Who thinks he's going to be ****? (apart from JPF - but I think he was a goalie so his view doesn't count)
For me it's just that slightest kindling of hope that Rafa might extend his contact - even if only by a year - and stay put until hopefully we are sold to someone better. I assumed he was referring to the likes of Danny Mills.
Y'know what galls me most about Fat Mike? He could easily be so much better. Could have been the saviour of this club, still could be. Could easily make us much better - the financial controls we've put in place are astounding in this day and age. Bit of loosening of purse strings and a Rafa contract gets about 80% of the fanbase off your back. Making sure we bring in a couple of players, so making the payment structure less rigid, just isn't difficult. Football is very fickle, if he stopped with the bollocks and ran it with a bit of competence and integrity, it'd all be forgotten quite quickly. Look at Tuesday - most action was forgotten in just 90 mins, in spite of 11 years of garbage. If we survive, I wonder if he'll actually give it a go this time. The relegations cost us in terms of how and what we could spend, but if we survive we can and most likely will actually use some money this Summer. He's really going for it on the High Street, fancies a shot at Bezos and I do think he sees himself as some kind of crusader fighting against corporate fat cats (even though he's one of the fattest) and parliamentary vitriol.
I've never ceased to be amazed at the scraps upon which the toon arm will feed and rejoice. A hint of the non-crap will keep the place rocking for a month. On the other hand, when you consider that Shearer hadn't been born the last time we won even a two bit cup, Keegan was barely walking when we won our last proper cup and Sir Bobby wasn't born the last time we won the league, I guess you learn to get by on short rations.
