Re Phillips and Forshaw. Both are good players, Forshaw retained his place after being MOM against derby and doing nothing wrong v Rotherham. Not that hard to see why really. He has made some casual looking mistakes and they have been very costly. He sure as hell isnt alone in that. Philips has made a few himself but I can only remember 1 costing us a goal and another a sending off. Obviously he’s played more than forshaw this season and been moved around position wise. Bielsa seemed to imply he’ll have to make changes. Philips seems to be better defensively than foreshaw and I suspect he’ll come back in the DM role this weekend leaving the decision of klich v foreshaw for CM... or depending on Pablo fitness he might even try klich at 10 over Roberts... to be honest there’s a stack of variations in the attacking positions - none of which appear to be working that well!
1st 22 games conceded 18 Last 8 games conceded 16 Therein lies a problem. Let’s get back to formation of early season and tactics as near as possible
We'll soon know, sometime around 10-00 pm Friday night whether we slip to 3rd or stay second thanks to a Villa winning goal, or Villa or Sheff U get the goal that makes it a draw and we stay second. Difference between Phillips and Forshaw is, Phillips does too many sideways passes while Forshaw likes to run at defences with the ball, which means Forshaw is more beneficial to team, and tactics, it also gives us an extra striker up front to have a crack at goal. Both have made mistakes, but so have other defenders.
And our fans still admire Forshaw, we've leaked goals plentiful since Phillips was taken out of his DM role
Tell me you are joking Watch Forshaw v Norwich for their 2nd goal, he prated about on the ball, lost it then ran back into the box marking fresh air playing Pukki onside in the process, three mistakes in one goal, not the first time & won't be the last, defensive midfielder you're having a laugh !
Bielsa said Leeds had more possession against Norwich, and more chances. In all, he felt they did a lot of what he wanted them to do. "What kind of criticism could I make of the players? I couldn't criticise anything." WOW - That worries me! Bielsa insisting that he was to blame for the Norwich result. Says the decisions he took didn't work. But also said: "If we were as efficient as the opponent we would have won. If we hadn't contributed to the goals the opponent scored, we would have won by a large margin." Huh?
So looks like Pablo, Klich and Forshaw are injured, and may not play. Klich and Forshaw Knee and Pablo groin. Phillips back in with Ayling at RB and Shaks in front of him....
So players making mistakes all over the park didn't come into it ? I'm beginning to despair with all the claptrap that comes out of our club
Yes he talks in riddles and to be honest i dont read it all. Nearly feel sorry for the journos as it must be mind numbing.
Gordon Bennett. I hadn't realised that we could potentially drop to third place if Shuffield beat Vanilla on Friday night. What a depressing start to the weekend that will be. I hate being in this league!
Sometimes a smallinjury is a blessing. Clich needed a break so maybe he will get it. Was a huge gaff by bielsa starting with pablo he was way off the pace so a player down to start with. If shakleton starts he should be fresh and willing his all in. There is room for others to stake a claim too in first 11.we can come away with at least a point but need a big effort by all. We have a break coming up cause of qpr in fa cup. Could just give us that chance to freshen up and hey brown may even put one in.
If Pablo and Klich can't play against Boro then that will be a big lose. Forshaw not playing will not be a problem as I think Philips is better in that position. Just hope that Bielsa has not dented his confidence.
