I went to an orientation event today for the East Stand. The stadium is absolutely amazing. There are some bits and pieces left to do in the area I was in but nothing visibly preventing an opening. The fridges on the bars were fully stocked (but they were not actually serving drinks).

Isn’t the south stand the one that is furthest behind schedule?

No idea but the South Stand orientation events were before Christmas.
The rumours still say it's the fire alarm systems that are the major issue.

Yup, considering there was a White Hart Lane-shaped obstruction that prevented work beginning while the rest of the stadium framework was going up

Reading this post made me realise that it's been so long since I bought my season ticket that I've forgotten which stand it's in. <doh> ****'s sake.

The event was for the lower parts of the East Stand so we didn't have access to the upper tier. The premium restaurant areas on tier 3 look amazing but I'm not sure who has access to those.

Yes I know that it was the last bit to be started but it was still due for completion in September wasn’t it?

I've long believed that was where the problems with the safety systems were, given every picture of the stadium progress showed seats removed not in a horizontal row but in vertical rows, which implied something beneath them was being worked on

Your wording was perfect. It was exactly the right combination of words and my first response backs that up. Just animal rights are a touchstone for me. The joke was cracking though.

Copy and paste (just replace the opponent name)

    Shambolic.

Just announce Wembley for the rest of the season and be done with it.

The fact it's just the one game, rather than two or three as it was in previous updates, suggests things are a lot closer to being finished

Of course, we're going to hear a lot of Nomads say it's because we were scared of them winning in the first-ever match there (although how they'd manage that without their star player Mike Dean remains to be seen...)

It’s probably more convenient to just stay at Wembley now. I hate the journey, the atmosphere and the stadium but the team in general are doing ok there and I’d rather not disrupt a rhythm three quarters of the way through the season. Besides there’s only one big game left for us at home which is West Ham, so to me at least, I feel like the excitement of moving into WHL for this season has now died significantly.

Start 2019/20 afresh with a rejuvenated side, a more “up for it” fanbase and obviously a team who will have had some time to train and play friendlies/ training matches on the new pitch to get accustomed too it. It’ll be nice (just as it was this summer until the disappointing news) to have something to look forward too straight away once the new season begins.

Plus the excitement of the new stadium will distract us from lack of new summer signings <laugh>

I think they only said one game because it’s so close to the end of the season. There could be only be five home games after the Palace game (depending on champions league progress)
