They refuse to pay for security on sundays so all the shop lifters in hull frequent it on that day! The shop moves a lot of gear on Sunday’s but sadly none of its goes through the tills! That came from an employee!
The new HMV owner has released the list of 26 stores that will close and we're not on it. But expect Debenhams to announce a CVA in the next week or so, with multiple store closures.
Impressive, worth a visit to Queens Gardens. (On the wrong thread, moved to And now for something completely different?) View attachment 112756 View attachment 112757
Had a wander round Hammonds yesterday. All those fears of downmarket now Ashley's got it... pah Racks of Lonsdale in there. Panic over. Still selling high class top end stuff.
Had a wonder around town last night to take some night time pictures of the Knife Angel statue, and I have to say what a squalid looking place it was, even at 7pm. Shouting and a right commotion, by whom I didn't want to know, the Marina area was a ghost town, altogether a disappointing experience for someone who used to be in the city centre quite often in the 60's 70's and 80's.
You are right. I considered moving into town and was well on the way until I took a wander around on a mid-week night. Past about 9.00pm it starts to feel totally desolate and a bit threatening. Queens Gardens is full of drunks and addicts, the marina is deserted and even Whitefriargate is desolate. Decided it wasn't for me. Maybe it will get better as more apartments get built?
It may just be me but it seems a shame to use that area as office space (or whatever Arco are planning?) I assume it will be a replacement for the current location In Hessle?
