I wouldn't see that as an obvious question. Mick was like death from a thousand cuts, it was clear that virtually every town fan had understandably had enough. OK so things have gotten worse at least by league position. But is the football more watchable? Could it be if some wins were added? Something had to be changed and i thought initially it wasn't a bad idea with Hurst. It didn't work out, the players couldn't step up. It took us more than a season with Farke to get it right, Perhaps Hurst and now Lambert were a Maddison away from having the leeway and time to implement what they want to do. Farke was starting to lose the fan base after our abject performance at times through 17/18 and poor results upto the draw with your lot 6 games in this season. Bah!
In answer to your question.. The football has been a lot better (in parts) and was under Hurst as well, but the soft underbelly and ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory have become far too regular occurrences that confidence and morale are obviously in incredibly short supply. In fact the early excitement Lambert brought has also dipped as we've settled into a far more pedestrian tempo and style in recent weeks... Though part of that may be his determination to play all his new signings which have all been severely unfit and lacking match sharpness. I did comment a while ago (Under Hurst) that our style of play is similar to that of Your lot last season.. Sideways, backwards, sideways etc. keeping the ball but never threatening much, but at least you had Maddison, Murphy and Hoolahan to drag you win every so often so the rot never truly set in. Had we still got Waghorn I dare say that we'd not have gone 14 games without a win and would probably be sat in the relative comfort of 17th having managed to score the odd goal enough to edge out the odd win in the close games.. And the panic would not have got the better of Hurst and the players wouldn't have gone into such a dramatic tailspin.
Nope, and doubt they would be fit enough, but could make a stronger bench. # Incase it's a tight, tense game.
Lambert wants the boos. I agree 100% with Mr Bloom. Lambert wants it to be about him, he wants the boos and the hate. If it's a pantomime, then it's less about the football, less about the quality of the players. Less about the league position and form. He feeds off the aggression. He doesn't want this to be a football match. He will set up to hit us hard and rough us up, and try and disrupt the flow of the game. Try and get away with aggressive tackles and try and goad our players into reacting and picking up cards. Then try and knick a Set-Piece goal, as we are so weak from defending corners and freekicks. Try and draw/dive for a penalty. He will know they can't beat us if it's a football contest. It's the only plan I can think of that Lambert has. And best of all, if he does use that plan, the Norwich fans will be livid. He would totally love that.
I think so yes. Will be like that, but without the quality. More like Millwall and Rotherham at home. But with the added mindgames and over dramatics Lambert will bring.
# Post 32 FML and your last sentence sums PL up perfectly I see the referee likes dishing out yellows - https://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwi...-norwich-and-ipswich-at-carrow-road-1-5879639. I can see him being the first referee to brandish a red card to an NCFC player in a league match.
The most confident I have been able to tick the win box this season - I'm expecting a proper decoration job, despite the fact its a derby and anything goes.
If he can get any of our lot wound up to the extent that they show that sort of commitment or passion it will be a first this season! It really pains me to say it(especially on this forum) but our general spinelessness given our predicament is one of the most galling aspects about our plight. He might get carded himself for being in the face of the fourth official, but as to the players,he’s blown so much smoke up them they all think they’re superstars and none of it’s their fault
If I could put money on any Ipswich win. It would be this. Since Lambert got appointed. It didn't matter what happened in between. Lambert with F us over. Since you appointed Lambert. This is all I have known. I thought you would still go down, but this game. I was instantly worried.
Surprised to hear that, given his tenure with us. It was all underdog spirit and players proving themselves. Admittedly that's easier when you have hungry, confident players though. What do you guys think of your January additions? To me it all seems very short term? That's somewhat unsurprising given the uncertainty over your league status, but equally with Lambert committed for the next season, I was expecting one or two additions for Lambert to mould over a longer period?
