You should know that however it pans out and of course it could easily go either way, this game will only be a figment of your imagination.
It should be, but derbies don't always follow form. Ex-manager too, to bring the hoodoo. With that said this feels like even if you play your best, it might not be enough even if we have a middling performance. Is this the worst town side in your lifetime? Spirit can only get you so far, your results all season suggest an abject lack of quality. How are January's newbies settling in? Giving any cause for optimism? I'm naturally pessimistic where these sort of games go, but I'm struggling to see anything other than a fairly comfortable win. Bah!
This is the worst Town side in history, never mind any of our lifetimes. There is a lack of quality combined with inept management. The owner has given an in depth interview recently and there is no indication of a change of strategy, which is concerning for next year if we find ourselves in League One. The shred of optimism I have is that extraordinarily there are three other teams are just as poor as Town and that we have two of them left to play to help close the gap. Anything at all out of this game for Town gives our season an enormous boost.
I have bad memories of the John Duncan years but I really don't think his sides were any worse than at present. Any additions Lambert has made are barely an improvement on what we already had (Collins excepted-though I question how long he'll stay fit) If we had any fighting spirit that might give us some hope of keeping the score down, but to date it's been sadly lacking. I'm really not painting a very positive picture from a Town perspective but realism is biting pretty hard. (And in answer to the obvious next question, given all this I still don't wish we'd kept Mick, his time was well and truely up, and in fact his shoulder shrugging acceptance of Marcus Evans' mismanagement over the course of his tenure was a large contributing factor to our predicament).
Our tactics away from this season have been to limply fall to a 2-0 loss so I've got very little hope this weekend. In fact I'd say that you don't really need to get out of 2nd gear... No one else has had to to beat us! That said, we've not been properly thrashed (yet ) and for long spells we've not actually been that dreadful this season.. In fact I'd say we've been distinctly average, but woefully ineffective/downright useless in both boxes. We can knock the ball around at times (all at arms length) but offer nothing going forward and then contrive to provide gift wrapped opportunities throughout the match and wonder why we keep losing. The past few weeks have perhaps been the most galling given the lack of fight and desire which we had glimpses of when Lambert first arrived.. Plus he seems intent on sticking with a system that doesn't seem to be working and playing players out of position.
Was going to put this on the fan thread, but suppose it should go on here. Jack chatting to the ever fair and likeable Benjamin Bloom.
Any injury news yet? A few weeks ago, Ipswich was pinned as Leitner's expected return. I wonder if that has changed. Is Klose out longer? I thought Ipswich was hopeful for him too at one point?
Ah right, that again. Thanks Dave. Don't boo. Just chant and cheer. Positivity will be stronger than negativity.
