Big concern is lack of young talent coming through. Q. Are the talented local kids just not good enough? Q. Is the coaching not good enough? Q. Are the talented youngsters being snared by other clubs? Seems an awful long time since we had the likes of Ledley and Ramsey.
Totally agree. The younger teams seem to perform fairly well against their peers but we have had no really good youngsters come through our ranks since those mentioned above. A few have nearly made it, Matthews, Blake and Declan for instance, but for whatever reason their development stopped at the point it was necessary for them to step up a level. Others seem to have a fleeting relationship with the first team then fall away, e.g. Harris , Coxe etc. In reality Kadeem and Healey, who we bought in, are only fringe players and likely to move on in the summer if we stay up. However. I'm struggling to think of any other Cardiff/Valleys/Newport born player who is performing anywhere above Division 1. Bale excepted. Apart from the Swans lads are any of the young players getting into the Wales squad from south Wales?
Let's not forget that the lad that just left Man City for Germany was one of our academy lads until they stole him! Is it Matonda or something like that?
Good spot Brizzle. Born in Liverpool but moved to Cardiff as a child. Went to Llanishen High School. Nicked off us in 2016. We got paid a paltry £500k. Citeh sold him to Schalke for £11m last week. Still only 18 years old.
