No idea I drive a Porsche But I do have a new Renault mini bus so I expect Vauxhall, Nissan and Opel stick their badge on the model. The Sunderland thing is not a big deal either way imo ... predict more as I believe that many firms will be using Brexit as another business strategy to camouflage out changes they have planned for Stick it all in the box called bad news that what big businesses do Comical to hear how the government slipped that little press release into the EU websites 5 days before last Christmas... anyone would think they were the EU! Standpoint is an interesting publication, quite cultural and artsy with its mission statement of ‘defending and celebrating Western civilisation’. Corbyn is an easy target and deserves frequent and precise criticism. But of course Communism was born in Germany with Karl Marx, so it really should be defended as part of our rich Western cultural heritage.
Okay The guy said it didn't matter if it was the UK or EU He mentioned the deal signed would allow Germain top end car makers to penetrate Japan. He talked about emissions and how the new deisel cars wouldn't cut it. He also said something about 7 years. (I missed that bit). I will see if I can find it. Well worth a listen.
Some are made in France, the built in audio and satnav systems are made in Portugal, the interior panels and floor mats etc are made in chesterfield and coleshill, the majority of suspension-parts are made in Hungary and Germany the electric systems etc are made in the Czech Republic I think. The vast majority of motor vehicle parts are now made all over Europe by various companies for all motor manufacturers be they here or in Europe it’s a wide spread manufacturing system, so don’t just assume because Renault and Nissan are closely tied together that all parts are made in France. Again twisting the truth to fit your agenda and to hell with facts.
Not trying to defend anything Goldie, just pointing out an unwitting hypocrisy in what is actually quite an interesting publication. Communism, anarchism, fascism and liberalism are all humanist ideologies born in Europe in the wake of the enlightenment (fascism as a reaction against enlightenment, but it wouldn’t have existed without it, and like the others places humans at the centre of everything). So presumably Standpoint is engaged in defending and celebrating them all. Fascism, though it was first codified in Italy, didn’t spring fully formed from Mussolini’s twisted but interesting brain. It can be traced back through Spencer’s social Darwinism, various misreadings of Nietzsche and Hegel, the racial exploitation policies of the imperial powers, the police states of Bismarck and Napoleon III all the way to the Jacobins. For my sins I used to study this stuff.
The Xtrail I believe can’t complete with the Captur as it’s the same car It’s about badges as if you look into it they are all the same car Porsche Cayenne I see moving to Hungary it must be the German Recession?
Interesting that Renault have such a poor reliability record in comparison to Nissan of which many are built in the UK...
Never agreed with that That’s in the mind of the English re Renault because they are French Renaults especially the commercials have been top of class for 15 years or more The Brit’s don’t like Renault or the French yet their cars make up so many brands out there Nissan cars and their revival is solely down to Renault’s input The English shop loves its brands but are too thick to understand where they actually come from
Agree that the parts supply chains come from all over the Europe ... sort of shows everyone just in this example how global business really is Renault are the mothers to so many models including Nissan they invent the cars and are so successful at it in Europe that so many badges just buy in their market leading innovations The Germans are even better at reeling out Das Auto to the world in so many disguises Still the English motor industry and worse still the public have failed to recognise this Great example of this is our British trades people who buy up Vauxhall vans and in turn seriously believe they have a Brit product. It’s makes me laugh when I see UK builders etc driving around with English flags on a Renault with a Vauxhall badge. Because Vauxhall sponsors the England Football Team ... anyone ever guessed why ? The current Renault Traffic is a design classic imo for doing this and the biggest selling van in recent history . In terms of badge honour of course that market aspires to a VW T5. Only in England can this happen as it’s embedded into the stupid culture .... VW vans in Europe are easy and cheap to get plus not that reliable compared to the Renault. It’s badges nothing more for tribes Yet the brilliant Ford Transit has fallen from grace and become known to be sub standard All these factors spill into the private car market also. I work for Volvo sometimes and they are continuely looking to push into a closed market Brits are always looking for new brands to own The reason why the Xtrail forecasts in Sunderland are so bleak ? I would start at looking at KIA for the real answers
Hopefully Nissan wont get that government bung anymore then. That magic money tree that never existed is sure sprouting some new branches!
