It would probably help to see the actual video to judge whether VAR would give it. But every professional footballer knows how to pull a shirt so the ref can't see it. It's going to be a bit perverse if it's a valid tactic in the Championship but not in the PL. We'll find out where the line is drawn next season.
Did you also notice Barnes spat in the linesman general direction too If Barnes was booked for the "dive" then he should have been booked again for the torrent of foul mouthed abuse and spitting at the linesman
We're one of the trial leagues, I bet it will go across everywhere soon. It's a bit complicated but in that situation he could get one yellow for simulation and another for dissent, = 10 minute sin bin but not a red card. That was quite a tricky one to manage for the ref unless he just gave two yellows, which would be pretty ballsy.
My apologies Milton to you and your grandson, i'm not usually un PC (i'd had a drink) and have pulled other people up for sexism before and it was a thoughtless and tactless remark. Have edited now...
Thought I'd wait till today to write a comprehensive match report. 'Ouch.' Hope that covers everything.
I disagree with that. If you're silly enough to show dissent after getting a yellow card you deserve to be sent off. Actually that reminds me of an amusing moment that happened a few weeks ago. There was a mass confrontation in a game and a player threw a punch. I swiftly sent him off but he was under the impression I had only sin binned him! He thought I had shown him an orange card! I showed him my red card and told him on what planet did he think punching someone was a sin bin offence!
Re: McCarthy not diving - they had a big discussion on MOTD a couple of months ago about how many last minute penalties get put straight down the middle because so many GKs go for the big 'wonder-save' dive if it's that late. So no problem with McCarthy standing still for it. It's not like he'd have had much data on 'recent Burnley penalties' to study!
That would be pretty indecisive. To be honest if the lino had given him a clue at any point it would have probably all gone fine.

I know this is wrong, but Warnock’s emotional interview and post match walk around the pitch, touched me somewhat. Quite moving and moved him up a notch or two,
Yep I thought the same. Bit of a prat as a football manager sometimes, but he is just human. A father, brother, grandfather and son. Just like the rest of us.
