Great work JMF. That schedule puts things into perspective and even more so if you include a revived Forest under O'Neill, who we have already played.
Thanks GM and rather than go through the rigmarole of correcting it, it should read – home to Reading!!! Basil to score the winning goal????
Great article from today’s MFW and some very interesting comments – http://norwichcity.myfootballwriter...etimes-excruciating-other-times-exhilarating/
Just seen this - https://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwi...ich-city-will-finish-in-the-top-two-1-5872546 'Our esteemed colleague Michael Bailey asked us to write a position down and on cue reveal it to the camera with an explanation. Understandably after the huge disappointments of last term, most went for mid table or slightly better. Probably because we’re generally three quarters full-type fans, my column buddy David Hannant and I both tipped Daniel Farke’s men for the play offs. You could hear sniggers around the office. Five months on I admit I was wrong. Ahead of the toughest test of the season at Elland Road I’m upping my forecast. This week has been about yellow warnings for snow. I want to issue a yellow warning that we’ll end up in the top two. I don’t expect universal agreement and expect more chortling.'
Certainly we have a good shot at automatic promotion. Our match at Leeds is a big one, but so is West Brom Vs Boro. After Leeds, we'll have played the other top four teams as well as Derby and Forest so the remaining schedule favours us as the others will have to play each other. We also have key players returning from injury who will help and our squad is bigger than most.
So, here we are after the 4th transfer window that SW/DF required to get the players they wanted and I think most of us would agree that they had pretty much achieved that in the summer. I also like how or scouting network is identifying and recruiting youff talent in other clubs and I'm sure those players don't need much persuasion to come to NCFC with the Academy set up and the likelihood of becoming a first team regular in the way that JM, Lewis, Aarons, TC and Godfrey have done. Connor Southwell from TNC has interviewed SW and it is serialised on MFW. Link to part 1 - http://norwichcity.myfootballwriter...he-new-culture-at-norwich-city-football-club/
The next fixtures for the top 7 teams make an interesting read as we prepare for our tilt against mighty Ipswich: Friday 8th FEBRUARY Aston Villa -- Sheff Utd SATURDAY 9TH FEBRUARY Middlesbrough--Leeds Blackburn--Bristol City Derby--Hull Stoke--West Brom
We've been dismissed by many pundits but Jamie Rednapp has changed his tune after Saturday: “I was seriously impressed by Norwich as they took Leeds apart on Saturday,” Redknapp told the Mail. “It was the best performance I have seen in the Championship this season. Daniel Farke’s side were well-organised, classy in possession and lethal in front of goal. Both sides are pushing for promotion but, of the two, it is Norwich who look the team made to play in the Premier League.” That may be a bit hard on Leeds, but IMO Farke and Bielsa have developed PL capable teams playing sophisticated football. West Brom is the only other team I'd put in that category, and I still think they're our major threat after Leeds. https://thisisfutbol.com/2019/02/blogs/championship/norwich-better-than-leeds-redknapp/
As Alan Hansen once said, 'You'll win nothing with kids'. Or a generous smattering of Germans, the occasional Finn, Cuban, Bosnian, Argentine, Dutchman, Swiss...........

Just been reading this article - https://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwi...norwich-city-plan-in-premier-league-1-5878325 This excerpt stands out - 'As Webber frequently alludes to, the deals for Teemu Pukki, Marcout - Stiepermann, Moritz Leitner could all have fallen flat because as a club Norwich had to gamble on players needing to rebuild their careers.' Edit - And how handsomely had that paid off, especially for Pukki and Leitner. DF is on record at the end of last season as saying that 'we weren't getting enough 'goal attempts on target' - that's certainly been fixed!!
