Doesn't matter what you can play, it's how you play it. Was having this chat with NSIS about how Thelonious Monk used to play one note in a bar sometimes, usually a blue note, which would be set off against what the rest of his band were playing because he knew how to create a dynamic. Less is more sometimes.
Fosse is difficult to hate. Surely that's the wrong word! Maybe he bugs one or two but can't be more than that. HIAG should just act his age a bit more. Post and acts (at times) a bit juvenile. Nice guy though, no doubt. (I expect the tenner in the post Hil's, as agreed)
Stop going all Victor on me What I'm saying is that you can be the most technically gifted player in the world, but if all you're interested in is being a flashy ****, then you're not a good musician. Because playing in a band is about creating a vibe and a dynamic with your fellow musicians, not stamping all over their playing with your ego. Stray cats have got a great vibe. I love Rockabilly. It's technically quite straight forward, but that's not the point. It's all about the feel of the music and they have clearly got it.
