Good line up apart from Trippier who I don’t see the point of today. There’s no one with any height to cross the ball to. So all he’s gonna do is play it square or backwards.
I think he's picked the best eleven players available and has the next seven best on the bench. Not a bad policy.
I was expecting Llorente to play but Lucas did make a big impact when he came on and looked as though he was back to his best following the injury. Lucas and Son is a pretty dynamic duo with Lamela providing the unexpected.
Either we're playing four at the back with Verts at left back, or one of Lucas or Lemela's playing wing back Also, surely Skipp should've been on the bench at the expense of either one of Dier or Wanyama given he can pass the ball forwards?
Yeah it's not a bad team at all, but like others have said it would have been nice to see Skipp on the bench as a different option to Dier or Wanyama, and I think Moura has more impact off the bench than starting. But there's lots of pace and movement up top for us so we should cause them some problems.
Another opportunity presents itself where we have the opportunity to say 'don't forget about us ' let's hope we take this one.
Llorente turns 34 this month and has started 4 games in the last 2 weeks having not played regularly since leaving Swansea. Even if I thought he was any good I'd say we shouldn't be starting him today. Good idea resting him and Rose whilst keeping a very strong line up imo.
I know Moura had a good game..sometimes I think he's one of them players that plays well off the bench. Was hoping Llorente would be rewarded with a start. I suppose he's a good plan B off the bench COYS
We can not mess around at the back today...toon closed down and harassed city brilliantly on Tuesday which led to both goals. Hopefully we have gained confidence from a good second half performance on Wednesday and Toon will be a little spent from their their efforts v City. COYS
The media writes us off every year and as soon as they identify something good in Spurs they start reporting how our players or our manager will want away soon. I don't give a toss what they think about our chances I just look forward to the day when we win the league and it finally dawns on them what has happened. It's the same thinking that Man U have a right to be in the top 4. They are just a flock of sheep following the usual lines. Who needs them! far more original thought here on the Spurs board.
Add to that he's never really been match fit for us: when we signed him he'd missed the entire pre-season with Swansea due to a broken arm so was already way behind the rest of our squad in terms of match fitness and conditioning, and he never really had the chance to work on that as he was basically getting five minute cameos outside of cup games
Oh and I hope Lloris is better at corners today...only saw the goals on tv v Watford last night...had no idea how bad he was for their goal.
That's very true Spurf...we can still cut it down to 4 points today...it was 9 a few weeks ago...lets take this chance and hit the narrative where it hurts
Apparently Newcastle haven't won at Wembley since 1955 Looking forward to hearing the hacks talk about their Wembley hoodoo during the pre-match filler...
