Unilever has said it is stockpiling Ben and Jerry's ice cream and Magnum bars ahead of the UK's departure from the European Union.
Chief executive Alan Jope said the consumer goods giant was holding a few weeks' worth of extra stock in case of disruption to supply chains.
It follows admissions of Brexit stockpiling from other firms.
The UK is due to leave the EU on 29 March but concern is mounting it will exit without a deal.

At least someone has got their priorities right.

As the pension age forever rises and the disabled are having medicals from YTS kids getting a fiver bonus for every spastic they deny benefits it turns out that National insurance is in the Black big style but the excess is paying off the national debt.

    Better together though, Mugs!

    See this pish!

If they wanted to reduce the national debt why did the ok HS2. Why did they agree to write a blank cheque for a replacement for Trident? Why, in all the years of austerity were the the Westminster government borrowing more money than any government ever? Why did we sell off the post office for a fraction of what it was worth?

    Wake up dummy

Do you not agree that we need to reduce the national debt?
IMHO it should be the main priority.

Not by using national insurance contributions no.

Do you think it is ok to make working people work an extra 5 years before they can retire so a they can finance a debt not of their making especially when they are being lied to by cùnts that can retire anytime they like with a pension for life?

National insurance is just a tax like VAT or duty on ***s, it all goes into the pot. If we want to have a more generous welfare system we first need to reduce the amount we spend servicing debt.

Don't talk ****e. If Ni was "just another tax" then why does it have it's own National insurance fund, why is not lumped in with PAYE or VAT or any other tax levy?

    Eh, nae idea, dumbfuck?

It's because it's not a tax. It's a contribution. A contribution that is paid to finance welfare. Welfare like pensions and benefits. It's not a contribution to bail out an inept government and a bankrupt political ideology.

Well it's not supposed to be.

I was under the impression that NI wasn't pensions but free NHS etc? This is a serious question as I have no clue. Thanks in advance, buddy <ok>

Ni accounts for around 20% of NHS funding bro. General taxation pays the rest. National insurance pays for pensions and benefits. Hence the 24 billion excess last year that was used to pay off the bankers debt.

We could discover the world’s largest oil reserves under Grimsby and the welfare system would barely see a change.

I know it's a couple of years out of date but this chart suggests there's £39 billion that could be better spent.
