Carroll was a big risk at a big price. He did a few decent things for us despite being poor overall, he even got into the England team! Balotelli was never going to work, there was no risk, it was destined for immediate failure! Replacing a high energy maximum effort player in Suarez with a lazy, self centred imbecile that is basically a expensive penalty taker was just idiotic.
I guess it depends how you're looking at it tbh... a) Most disappointing return on the investment and expectation or b) what the **** was the club thinking Balotelli never achieved A with me as I never expected anything. B certainly applies. Carroll is partly both but no where near as much a B as Balotelli.
There are plenty I'd put ahead off Joe Cole too; Markovic, Aquilana, Konchesky, Hodgson, Diouf, etc. Not signing Anelka is up there too!
Give you markovic, although cheap wages compared to cole. Konchesky was a ****ing nightmare but expensive one? Diouf was a ****ing cretin but again expensive one? Not having aqua as could see he had skill just didnt adapt to prem. Gamble that didnt pay off. Expensive one? Hodgson ffs Why anelka?
