I still don't think he'll barely even kick a ball for the team. Llorente will continue up top at the moment, Kane seems to be about 2 weeks away and with no domestic cups, I don't see where Janssen gets a chance, may get a minute or two against Newcastle I suppose.
I think Atletico had a clause to enable them to buy out Southampton’s option to buy which they did when they found out they would get more from Spurs.
Yeah I think Saints had an option to purchase him for something like £6.5m but Atleti paid a clause that prevented that and then sold to us for £11m.
Sunderland have signed Will Grigg, who's prolific in League One. They clearly loaned our man so that they could put a twist on his theme song. Grigg and Kazaiah, your defence is terrified!
<cough> Bollocks </cough> No Poch, it's the default postion as you need to make up the numbers. Admit it!
Frozen out of squad training for months. Sent out on loan. Attempted to sell to several clubs but no takers. Suddenly... in his plans. I'm calling it what it is...
Poch was reported to have consulted the 1st team squad before bringing back Janssen, I wonder what the reason was, did he use Kane's soap on a rope on his ar*se or Dele's towel and shampoo ?
Something clearly happened and I suspect that prior to now Janssen had not apologised or made it right. I assume that in the last few days he has.
I do think something went down with regards to the loan situation. As a professional, Janssen seems like a decent guy, so I can only imagine the fact that A) He was very disappointing in his first season and B) Went against the club's wishes of a Premier League loan last season, just likely irked a few, to then return with a broken foot from the Fener loan probably made it that bit worse - we couldn't sell him, we couldn't play him and his value likely decreased significantly.
From the pre-match presser: "Will he be in the squad tomorrow? No, he needs to train to be involved. First of all we need to communicate with team mates and captains and we had a conversation this morning and we tell him he will be involved in the first team. Like I said before, my responsibility is to manage football people, and to treat them in the best way. Before it was clear because he wanted to leave and the player wasn’t in our plan, but now when you cannot achieve what you want it’s important that he feels again that he can be healthy for the club and the coaching staff and try to get him fit to help us." The part about teammates and captains makes it sound like you're right or pretty close to it. Why would you have to discuss it with anyone, unless there's some sort of issue beyond just not being good enough?
I think it’s quite smart to bring Janssen back into the squad. Give him a bit of playing time here and there and hopefully increase his value so we can sell him in the summer as realistically he’s probably 4th choice after Kane, Llorente and even Son. Leaving him to rot isnt in the best interests of anyone.
That's the Aussie Man City team. Bit of an odd choice, but we'll see if he can make something out of it.
Melbourne City are playing against Sydney Fc tomorrow I'll keep an eye out to see if he plays then report back to Poch personally
