Of course it’s allowed but strangely if you say to one of your best young players, no new contract for you as we need the money, oh and go all the way to Leeds because we’ve agreed terms and have a medical and mentally prepare yourself for a move and then not even update the player as he has to try and find out a number to find out what’s going on and then say the deals off - don’t be surprised if one of your best young players go **** this for a joke of a club I’m out of here at the first chance I get.

    But sure no fault anywhere

Well I’m hearing Dan James is annoyed with Leeds because they weren’t prepared to pay the loan money upfront. It showed to him that he wasn’t that valued by the club.

Hmmn. The flaw in that doc is... how far did we get with billy and bob? We didn’t. Radz has said James was the only target.

The way to play it is to express interest in the shortlist assess interest from the parties, try to cut a deal with first choice but gave a deadline where you walk away in time for 2nd choice, with another deadline giving you a chance for third choice.

When you are still being ducked around late in the transfer window, even if you are still hopeful of choice 1, you up the ante on choice 2 etc,

January is difficult, because often sides are waiting for a domino effect of x sells y which frees up z etc... but other clubs manage to get deals over the line.

In short, who’s fault was last night. Clearly it was swansea’s. Who’s fault is it that we didn’t get a winger in this transfer window? Clearly it’s Leeds fault, because transfers fall through for all sorts of reasons so you have to factor that into your strategy.

What is the reason for it? Clearly it’s money. We prioritised a keeper and until we had one, we didn’t know what we had left to play with. We don’t have a pot to piss in, if we did we’d have been cutting a deal with Swansea on jan 1 while finding a keeper at the same time.

Doc... as for this 5 million fee for James we offered... It would have been stretched out over years... we even wanted to pay for the loan fee in arrears.

I’m still confident we’ll go up, but the failure of this transfer window could really bite us subject to form and injuries to key personnel. Reality is we’ve lost a 10 and central mid and haven’t replaced them when we’re top of the league with our best chance of promotion since we were relegated a generation ago.

History will judge the importance of this, but it won’t alter the huge risk the club have taken... or you could say have been forced to take due to financial issues if you want to be charitable.

Do you have a link to that, because there's a quote from his agent saying,no fault with him or Leeds and he won't sign any new contract with Swansea.

A deal was agreed that Leeds would pay 1,5m in June. Swansea then wanted half up front and Leeds agreed to it. Swansea then just stopped takling to Leeds. The player, the players agent and Leeds could not get in contact with Swansea as they where ignoring us.

The EU flag mouth is doing my head in as he now talks bollox to try and stick up for his toilet club. Fair enough he can go do it on his own toilet club board we don't need it here. Everyone in football and media has stuck the boot into your toilet club today and your directors are a joke. You fans deserve better but you my friend don't talk bollox on here

But the flaw in that is that you’re dealing with a specific from Bielsa - they have to be better than what we already have. Sure we could have got a winger, we could probably pick one as a free agent today but it seems Bielsa was keen on James and not so keen on choice 2 or 3 to the extent that I suspect Bielsa says if we get James great if we don’t I’d rather deal with what I’ve got and trained and know. That’s what’s he suggested in press conferences but we’ll find out in May if he’s right.

Whatever happened, he was and still is under contract. Anything else doesn’t matter does it ?
If not signing for Leeds last night is the biggest disappointment he has in life then he’ll be a very lucky guy indeed.

You’re stepping on my territory now as I get to be the annoying pro-EU one on the Leeds board. But seriously you’re getting very brexity in the face of facts. Someone at Swansea behaved badly last night and why don’t you just acknowledge that, gloat that you’ve kept a good player if needs be and then move on. I can see no vested interest in defending your owners - they’re not the good guys in this or by the look of it for your club overall.

I'm not defending anyone. Personally I'm more annoyed that we loaned out Montero - he is a better player.
Nobody at our club wants the American owners we have, but that is what we have got.
If Dan James had joined Leeds, the disappointment for me would stem from the point that we have been fed the line that we needed to get the higher earners off the wage book and build from youth. Even Huw Jenkins (Swansea chairman) said in his program notes two weeks ago that the plan is to build a team capable of getting back to the PL at first attempt. The sale of Dan James - regardless how good he is, would go against everything we've been told since relegation. The sale would represent another pack of lies - that's the hard part, not losing Dan James.

Don’t accept it’s a flaw. When I’m pointing the finger at the club I’m including bielsa. However if he really said James or nothing from the choices given, then maybe the choices given weren’t up to it.

People get hung up on this better than what we have as if it means instant first team... it means better than someone in similar position in the squad.

The issue is money. Pure and simple. We’re forced into loans, staged payments, going after one player as cheaply as possible and seeing what’s left.

If we don’t have the money we don’t have it... I’m not actually criticising an individual it’s a set of circumstances that impacts every stage of the process. The players on orta’s lists have to be ‘accrssible’, so they are less likely to meet with biela’s approval, so our short list becomes 1, and then we can’t open negotiations until we have a keeper in etc etc.

Is it 11 sports effect, is it Orta spunking 4 year deals on everyone and buying hundreds of u23s? Is it radz not realising what investment the club needs? Doesn’t matter I’m not really interested in blame (on this occasion!) just pointing out the material reasons for where we’re at.

Point is in my humble opinion if there was a deal agreed surely this would be on a piece of paper subject to medical. In otherwords agreement in principal. That's how I would have approached the deal.
If Swansea then decided to pull the deal we should have some recourse against them. This in my view is 10 times worse than spy gate.

Where’s that quote fella? What I read was he was fed up with Swansea for not offering James a deal and then trying to flog him at the first opportunity
