Honestly I think £5m is more than enough, but there would need to be a sell on clause as he could turn into a £50m player. At the moment I see him as a fast winger without a great deal of end product. I think Montero is a better player and I'm more annoyed that we sent him out on loan than anything that could have happened with James. The thing that is upsetting regarding James is that the owners have said they are trying to build for the future - the sale of James would prove they lied.
No idea, the same goes for why leave it so late to do the deal when there's been a month to get it done. Maybe both clubs thought they could get a better deal by leaving it until the last minute - Leeds preying on Swansea determination to sell, whilst the Swans were hoping Leeds desperation would inflate the price.... I dunno.
You miss the point. He was having a medical so all terms of deal were agreed. You then refused to sign / send it to the EFL. Nice way to treat a young player, bet he can’t wait to pull on the Swansea shirt again
Well at the end of the day he is under contract for another 18 months so Swansea are entitled to kill the deal whenever they want, just as Leeds could walk away if they weren't happy with something.
Good Morning to Matt and co from a snowy Bardsey, Yes I am surprised I am at home writing this as I was supposed to be having my cancer cells removed now I was not looking forward to it but made out I wasn't bothered so Moe would worry too much Well we rang the Hospital at 8am to be told everything was in place so we cleared the snow from the drive and got to Leeds in plenty of time to be told we have had to cancel your op as the surgeon is not here sorry for the mess up it sounds like Swansea had it in for me as well I deeply sorry for Daniel he seems such a nice young man who has been let down badly by his club I expect Leeds will have had a good talking to him and told him don't worry we still want you and will sign you in June.Has he got a redress against Swansea I would say YES They have as much chance of giving him a new contract now has Corbyn has for getting into bed with May!
Your post number 58 suggests you knew about Leeds intentions but post 63 suggests you knew nothing about Swanseas.
I don't know which posts are what as I don't see any numbers. I see it as very simple, Leeds wanted to buy, Swansea wanted to sell but weren't happy with the deal. End of. Truthfully the only people who know what really happened are those directly involved, the rest of us are just giving our opinions on what we think has happened based on what information the press throw around.
All fair points... However once terms have been agreed and you allow your player to undergo a medical at his prospective new club then those gripes are actually irrelevant. Furthermore then leaving your player sitting for 5 hours waiting for expected paperwork to arrive is an unbelievable way to treat a valued player. If that's how you treat your good ones then I presume the bad ones just get left to play on their playstation or at best an uber to the airport at their own expense. Your club appears in disarray and on the verge of financial meltdown. I would suggest failing to complete agreed transfers to two of the divisions most highly decorated clubs will in the long run do you no favours whatsoever. Personally I've always like Swansea (since around the Toshack era) and you've always played good football which most neutrals have enjoyed watching. It's a shame therefore to tarnish your reputation when in all likelihood you might need some goodwill from others to help you through the tough times ahead.
American owners will now be involved in a boardroom war. Jenkins decided to take control, because the players and fans were revolting. As soon as the Bony and Montero deals were confirmed Jenkins decided enough had been saved so blanked Leeds and Villa on James and Fer. He wanted it left until too late to ensure 2 deals failed. He even allowed a late deal for Carrol to happen. Jenkins got at least 1 more board member on side but the Yanks are fuming and blood will flow.
I don’t think it’s as simple as that. Obviously Leeds wanted him - negotiations went on as which way to structure the deal - whether fee or loan etc. Radz did the deal and then it gets complicated because the person Radz did the deal with agreed but somewhere at Swansea there was rebellion at how many players were being sold, maybe a manager threatened to walk because suddenly the person who did the deal couldn’t get it signed off. You have to feel for James as he’d been targeted and wanted as a raw talent by one of the best coaches to come join a promotion challenge at a club close to where he grew up. Whatever else happens to have got to the stage where you agree terms and let the player have a medical and then suddenly go silent for 4 hours is really, really ****ty. In any other job you would just walk out on a company who did that to you. I have some sympathy with Swansea fans - lets face it we would have loved it during our fire sales if someone within Leeds had stood up the ****ty owner(s) and said enough is enough and stopped the cheap sales of our young talent. But they’ve got a player who will have to be professional and get on with it to make sure he gets his escape but he’s not going to be in a good place now and there is a chance that come the summer (if fingers crossed we do go up) we’ll look and move on to someone more proven. All in all an understandable but ****ty situation
Well I'm sure all the hardship of hanging around that Dan James had to endure whilst being paid money most of us can only dream of by Swansea was hard on the lil fella. He's still under contract to Swansea. If he wants to walk out and face the consequences then go ahead. What sort of club would want to employ a player who behaved that way. In 2 years time when Liverpool or Spurs want to take him from Leeds, I'm sure you will feel so sorry for him and his 5 hour ordeal yesterday.
I don’t blame Swansea it’s our own fault having all the eggs in one basket. Bielsa looked at Ortas list and this was the only one he liked. We could have went back to Bielsa at the start of January with more better options. Swansea said they wanted the loan money up front and why not? We offered half now and half in June FFS we’re talking top of the table possible promotion just give them the full 1.5m it’s a bargain if it’s the difference of promotion or not Either way the remainder would have to be paid come June
None of us on this board dream of playing for Swansea and neither does Dan James, you’re a job to him.
