And Sunderland sign Will Grigg for 1.5m. What the ******* is going on? Charlton and Bowyer are a absolute laughing stock!!!! If we are signing players from Gillingham, we may have also included Ricky Holmes for a fiver, better option than the one we have signed
It seems Billy that we were scraping the bottom of the barrel, but there wasn't anything left so we brought in Parker..
No no no… LB tells us that he has the pace to get in behind defences . . . . . . . . Very slow defences though...
I don't know much about this signing. Iread that Ricky Holmes left Oxford as he was injured, so I seem to have misunderstood something in that the Gills thought he would be good to bring in. But taking away the injury, Gillingham seem to have done a good bit of business. Holmes is a very decent player on his day, so they have bought him in and released someone their fans seem to regard as having a decent game in every fifteen. As for us, we had a striker who had moved his game on prodigiously, with 14 goals in 28 appearances, but who we hadn't offered a contract. We sold him for 1.5m which in itself wasn't too bad. Sunderland have shown what you can buy with 1.5m. We seem to have chosen to bank the money and bring in a journeyman freebie. As I said, I know little about this guy (though I loved one of the reactions on CL 'not THE Josh Parker?') so I'm happy to wish him welcome. But that's where my happiness ends. For everyone who was derided for saying how badly we nneded to get rid of the Duch before the transfer window, this is the moment they can demand apologies. Utter lack of ambition, when the managership team have got us motoring nicely. We snip out a key member of the attacking formation, and bring in someone to warm the bench. It says everything that across the forums, only BexleyBoy seems to feel we have done something positive, though Major has popped up to attack anyone criticising RD.
I watched Josh Parker closely yesterday, and Jesus Christ, he is bad. He has little physical presence, he is slow, and his first touch is Magennis-like. You can see why the lowly Gills released him. I would say that you get what you pay for, only the owner never pays for a player. Definite boo boy material here...
He made a couple of good interceptions defensively, but he seems to lack the basic ball control required of a professional footballer.
It's not the fellas fault but when the likes of Gillingham get rid of you for nothing halfway during a season, you know he's not going to be all that.
Wasn't there, haven't seen him and didn't want him. But, it's been pointed out he has spent most of his career as a midfielder. He is now being played up front - possible out of desperation. Are we resorting to playing people out of position and then getting on their backs. If the Gills let him walk away, he was never up to much anyway, but on top of that playing him in the wrong bit of the pitch.
