Totally agree. I am already hearing that one EU minister is telling them not to punish the UK. I have now found a story.

A group of top German economists has told the EU to tear up the Irish backstop and ditch its ideological demands in Brexit talks, calling instead for a flexible Europe of concentric circles that preserves friendly ties with the UK.
Brussels must “abandon its indivisibility dogma” on the EU’s four freedoms and come up with a creative formula or risk a disastrous showdown with London that could all too easily spin out of control.
A joint report by the influential Ifo Institute and universities across Germany and Europe warned that Brussels may be deluding itself in thinking that the EU has the upper hand in all respects or that the British will inevitably capitulate before March 29.

    finally
the tories have something to be praised for

due to the upcoming food shortages the obeisity levels should drop like a stone

also as you will now be eating everything you buy there will be less unused food dumped into the rubbish each week

imagine what you will all be finding at the back of your food cupboards

European trade partners supplied 19.8% of import sales to New Zealand
have never heard of a champagne or french cheese shortage here
seems to survive the long journey well

should the fruit and veg go rotten in french ports who will take the financial hit
cant imagine the farmers leaving their tractors unparked if its them

You may just do ellers, whether it sinks in is a different matter. Daily mail front to back 10 times a day?? Did you understand that when voting , you would be voting on a deal that would then be voted down unanimously in parliament to then have an amendment on a backstop that enabled this pathetic leader of our country to crawl back to the EU for renegotiating. Simple yes or no will suffice. I know the answer already ellers. You thought you understood it as it seemed simple but you mislayed your trust in this government and hence truly didn't understand it. Theres no shame in that fella. The whole country has been bamboozled. This wasn't on the form. But don't pretend you know any more or any less than the next man.
