Or voting for Brexit if you live in a place like Sunderland that relies on companies like Nissan who are here because we are in the EU
We can, however, ask them on the train back towards civilisation why it looks like they're trying to hide a sign under their coat...
I had to miss last night's match because of a prior engagement. I switched my phone on to find we'd won 2-1 and that Liverpool and Chelsea had not. I then had a look at this thread expecting to see a lot of praise for the team and manager.......and found an awful lot of negativity. It's amazing how people forget that we've got the most points we've ever had at this point in a season, despite an awful injury list and the most players of any team being in the World Cup until just before the season started.
Perhaps some realise : 1. we got away a bit with the result (was hardly a repeat of the Man Utd game) 2. that going on about WC duty and the injury plague has long worn thin
I thought that we played pretty well, especially in the second half. Had it not been for conceding another very sloppy goal, we'd have been comfortable winners. Lucas should have won a penalty. Fernando should have buried an open goal and we'd have had four. It was one of those games, like United, get one and more will come. Having been without HK, Dele and Sonny at the same time is a terrible loss. If you took the 3 best forwards out of any team in the league, they'd look much the worse for it and results would suffer. We're making do and still keeping up with others who have more resources. Ask Arsenal, Chelsea and United fans if they want to swap places?
We played pretty well throughout, but lacked a final ball in the first half. The change at the break put Watford on the back foot, forcing a foul after only 15 seconds, and they never recovered that momentum. It felt like it was going to be another one of those days for a lot of the match, though. They scored from their only attempt on target, which came from a set piece, which we were absolutely awful on all match. There was a lot of positives in the game and a few negatives, too. Our crossing was appalling, Lloris looked out of sorts and the bench was strangely unbalanced. We had three right-backs in the 18 and started the second half with none of them on the pitch. Some of our buildup play was fantastic, Son and Moura caused havoc with their runs and Llorente finally scored in the league. The three points was the most important thing, but it felt like we'd overcome that West Brom draw from last season, too. Great to see Foster's timewasting coming back to bite him in the arse. Annoying that he got away with it all match again, though. The officials weren't great throughout and missed some blindingly obvious decisions. It was bloody freezing, so perhaps that was a factor?
The photo that's referred to, I think: please log in to view this image Weird command of the English language. Quite Pochettino-y.
After all your comments.....I still think Spurs fans need a regular check with the local nut doctor! It's all bewildering!
So if something continues to be an important factor, it is no longer relevant? So if Trump continues to lie, to use that as a reason to despise him has "worn thin"?
Some nice fallacy in that text. But amusement aside, how many PL points are you claiming that the injury plague : 1. has cost Spurs to date 2. will cost Spurs by season end
Can't help to have expectencies...that's life We are about 3 months from the season finishing I don't want us to be banging on about WC injuries. We are 7 points off the top...even negative idiots like me dare to still dream. I hope the players aren't of the same thinking...we might have had one of the best seasons thus far compared to our previous points tallies but we can't put our feet up and use that as a buffer. We should embrace it and challenge ourselves maybe the players do but the fans are always looking for small crumbs of comfort in preparation for it all going tits up. Every season I don't want to be consoling myself with 'ah well, at least we ....etc etc'.
IN SPITE OF everything moaned about, Spurs are still in the PL title fight. The injury plague perhaps has cost progress in the domestic cups (IMHO fair comment, though equally fair is moments of lax play on the pitch or tactical failing by the manager) . The phrase I use is "vindictive spite" , and for good reason. A player that channels such hostility on-pitch to win in spite of their rivals' state of squad/financial health, will prevail.
Injuries are valid points but then again considering this is our best season to date points wise...how much have they affected us thus far? On the other hand just like negativity from fans can creep onto the pitch...I just wouldn't want any player to give themselves the excuse that we had so many injuries...it's a subconscious thing. There's great fighting spirit amongst the squad it seems...no slacking due to complacent thoughts please. Look at Trippier...for me he has complacent thoughts and it's shone through with what I regard as too much hype over the Summer.
Do you have to worry in that sense Spurlock. Isn't it just as likely that injuries give chances to other players who will be desperate to make an impact, thereby raising the excitement on the pitch. Look at the way Lucas exploded onto the pitch from the bench on Wednesday for example.
I completely agree but I don't see how the negativity of the fans can possibly help the players. I know Wembley is a trek for a lot of fans and it was a cold January evening but less than 30k isn't good for a team who despite adversity are having by far their best ever PL season. A lot of the ones that do go spend the whole match complaining.
