No. There might be a few, but which ones meet the grade is very hard to tell. So we have to trust Pochettino if he doesn't want them. Malcolm and Suarez look like wastes of money to me.
I don't doubt his skills but he wouldn't make a Pochettino side because he doesn't work hard enough. I imagine that is why he was let go by Real Madrid too.
Looking at what MP has done with Sissoko I would expect him to try with VdV but who knows, it's a fair point.
So on that score are we suggesting that Hoddle, Waddle, Ginola, Klinsmann and Berbatov wouldn't be considered either if work rate is more important than end product - a VDV equivalent would be a fabulous addition to this squad
Clearing the decks for a late signing...the ballboy from last night perhaps? The Liverpool groundsman?
It's a combination of skill and work rate obviously. All those players worked pretty hard as far as I can recall. Berbatov is probably an exception which is why Kane is better. But actually I think only Hoddle would make our current first team, with the others improving the squad. The current squad has got more league points than we ever got when those were playing despite the PL being more competitive. There's a reason for that!
According to football.london, Chelsea approached us with the opportunity to loan in Michy Batshuayi. You can just imagine it...... "Hello, Mr Levy? This is Chelsea Footb.............click.........errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr................He ****ing hung up!"
Conversation in my WhatsApp group: Mate 1: Who’d actually wanna buy or even loan Janssen? Did he actually play for Fener? Me: Yeah like 10 games and scored a few before breaking his foot. Mate 2: Broke his foot trying to remember how to kick the ball in the net.
And you think the complaining about Eriksen not getting stuck into tackles + looking disinterested is bad. It would be thermonuclear for a Hoddle with the Spurs supporting rabble of today.
I thought VDV worked fairly hard too, I only saw him in the flesh a few times but I was always pleased with his work rate it was always better than I expected. I know that this is not the necessarily the right place for this next bit.....but as deadline day is a likely to be a dull affair how about we all take a trip in a deadline day 'tardis' and can go to any era and sign one player that we have seen play and put into this squad to help us over the line this season who would you choose? For me I would pick Gazza, I just think of the all great players we have had he would be the one who if added to this current squad would make the biggest impact.
Agreed. One thing that unites Hoddle, Eriksen and Berbatov is excellent judgement so they don't go for 50:50s they can't win. That means they are more likely to be in the right place for the next interception.
I'd have Dave Mackay. I think its fair to say we still lack steel and leadership sometimes and he would provide those without losing anything else.
Yeah Rafa worked hard he just didn’t have the stamina to last 90 mins all the time. Thankfully for him, he wouldn’t have too here in this side as we’ve got great options in the AM areas. As for transfer tardis signing, Modric for me. Best player I’ve ever seen in a Spurs shirt and considering our dire (not Dier though ) options at CM, he’d help Spurs take control of a game and get attacks in full swing. Imagine Modric feeding Son/ Eriksen/ Alli/ Lucas etc. Salivating stuff.
True. Cardiff have Arter and Niasse so no more Prem loans. Would be surprised if we paid hard cash for Janssen.
