None of that matters. The ball was going away from goal and it was 40yrds out. The ref simply can't give that as a clear cut goal scoring opportunity. 100% convinced we'd have scored it though because we had Mane & Salah vs Kasper.
the talent level is simply huge but he must come out of the shell and dominate the ball not stand to the side waiting for someone to give it to him. I don't personally mind what matip does but it simply shouldn't be necessary very much. We need both fabinho and keita demanding that ball not standing 10 yards up park man marked while cbs pass it about. I'm looking for a playmaker here. Keita has the talent but he needs to get out of that shell.
Refs can justify anything. The last man rule has to be central and near edge of box for me. That's the english way. Either you are on a break away and the entire half is open and you are through with zero chance of keeper getting close before you've 3 touchs and you get pulled down or you are hacked from behind by a thug cb who's coughed up the ball by mistake on edge of box.
you might be convinced, i might be but we are biased IF we understand the ref: and martin Atkinson has form: "I don't owe anyone anything" he won't give pens unless they are blatantly obvious... why would he red card a player if its not blatantly obvious he's going to get savaged for not doing it. And btw that pen last night was not blatantly obvious.
We do not have to be brooding over spilled milk, three points is our target at West Ham, by the time we play them the gap between city and us can be two points. No one expected city to drop points against Newcastle. We must get on with it..
since it is you here is todays RHC inspired entertainment in full https://www.not606.com/threads/posting-an-avatar.368263/
The **** that scored their goal should have been sent off and we should have had a penalty. **** the east mids ****s.
The thing is can the VAR referee interfere on his own if he sees an infringement? Or does the match referee need to make a request that VAR comes into play? That's important because at corners for example there are so many "fouls" being committed by defenders and yet they are not given because the referee does not and cannot see them all. If there is grappling and body checks in the penalty area, can the VAR referee signal a penalty?
VAR can speak to the ref on the pitch if he sees an infringement. The ref indicates this by putting his hand up to halt play while he's being informed via the earpiece. Last night Matip was held down by Chilwell on one of the corners, VAR could intervene and let ref know.
I believe if they var sees something they can alert the ref who can go over to the side to watch it and make a decision.
How do you think England got to the semi of the WC? The VAR ref will alert the ref that there is an incident for review. The only place I believe VAR has powers is in the offside calls.
Im really not sure they would have from what we've seen in FA cup... truthfully. Its a marginal call so theres leeway in rutes for ref to make an excuse not to. Its red cards its pens its game affecting stuff like review a goal. you might find the refs call on maguire might not even be reviewed.. who knows.. the penalty should be but holding form a corner to prevent a goal may not be. My prediction is some level of additional "howszat" style calls will creep in with VAR. The only way to get a review of a marginal contact is to flop and make the shout to force a decision one way or other. If you get held and don't drop, no decision. then the authorities will decided diving is a blight and start booking people finally
That's why I've been saying for months that our opponent this season is PGMOL We are being held to standard no other team has had to endure We must score screamers that have no opportunity to be disallowed We must play offside traps so perfect that no one can possibly have any doubt Our runs (Mané in particular) must start from a position that everyone knows to be onside And even then PGMOL will screw us and we must rise and fight again We have to be 3 goals better than our opponents just to finish the game 1 goal better If we win the PL under these conditions it will be the greatest PL win ever
In terms of number of pens for and against, Goals ruled out for offsides, yellow and red cards, how do we compare with the other teams? Do they show we are being unfairly treated (top or bottom of the list)?
