You wont have to worry about Carroll coming now - Arnautovic left the ground on crutches after their game last night.
https://www.skysports.com/football/...-to-sign-emiliano-sala-replacement-in-january The reality is though as he stated after the game is that had Arsenal had our chances they’d have scored 4 or 5. Who then is going to score the goals necessary for us to survive? It all stems back to pre season failure to sign a decent striker.
To much faith put in Zohore and Madine to fire up. Reid was a wasted £10M because he doesn't fit into Warnocks system without a major reshuffle.
Didn't Reid do okay last night? Sounds like he could have scored if shot on target. Maybe he and Niasse are more suited?
I find Reid does better on the wing than up front. If we stay up, he could easily become a really big asset!
Yes Bluey - I think those two could score playing together. Paterson out wide on the right is a waste of time. Needs to play behind the front guys and in the middle of the pitch or not at all.
Sorry Jay, but Reid is no wide player although he did track back well last night to help Bennett. We've got enough on the books to fill the left and right wide berths. Mendez, Murphy, Kadeem and Hoilett are all better suited if they're on their game. Reid is a quick opportunist poacher and I'd like to see him given a regular shot at it with Niasse - those two could turn our season.

11:41 CARDIFF IN FOR TOURE Cardiff City are in talks today with Monaco to secure a deal for right back Almamy Toure, Sky Sports News has been told. The 22-year-old has struggled to hold down a regular place for Monaco, making just five first team appearances. Toure is out of contract in the summer. please log in to view this image
It was probably due more to Arsenal’s defence being poor; a decent team would have mullered them. Reid got himself into 2 useful goal scoring positions as did both Niasse and Paterson but all 3’s finishing was lamentable. Incidentally our record signing Murphy didn’t play last night; he’s been a real disappointment after a promising start.
Reid hasn't been given anything like fair crack of the whip. This season just playing him in bit parts and trying to fill gaps that appear because of injury or the bad form of others is not fair on him. Difficult to criticise a player who scored consistently last season playing a certain role and team style that suited him. It may have been the Championship and not the Prem, but the goal scoring knack needs a platform to play off. Interesting that from memory, Reid got the majority of his goals in the first half of their season when they were playing some nice stuff on the floor. After Johnson changed tactics in the New Year to a more direct long ball format, he wasn't so successful. Why did Warnock spend £10M on him and try to shoehorn him into our broadly similar system when it was apparent he didn't fit in?
.....still apparently on the cards, but would we (should we?) pay that sort of money........ https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2019/01/...ty-made-18-million-bid-for-brugge-forward-we/
Given last night's results I'd err on the side of caution. Certainly wouldn't stump up that sort of cash given his stats. Realistically, one eye needs to be on next season, be that the big league or the championship. I said it some time ago and read it in the news more recently, we lose all 3 of our starting CMs in the summer. Only ralls remains. We need a CM in this window to bolster what we have for this season and start preparing for next. A different question. Will Colin be with us. He voiced how hard the sala incident affected him and that he thought about packing it in. Dalman said he won't talk to him about that. If it's a possibility he'll go we should save that for the next man. At the turn of the year I was more bullish, but given the results against udders and Newcastle, compounded by the results of those around us last night, I admit to being far more conservative.
I can understand him saying that - but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. If he was offered one, he'd take him. The question is whether we as a club should take the risk given as remote said above - should the funds be left in place for a new manager next summer?

Remy could be a very good shout! Play him up front with Niasse and we could have a good goalscoring partnership.
Wow, it's all happening. Thought you were showing your age there Sparkey. "And there's more...." was a catchphrase for a bygone comedian of Irish origin. Well, that's what my mam told me. The right back sounds viable. Not sure about the Austin thing either. Another where wages could be an issue.
