He looks like he's here for a while watching the footage of him getting out of the chopper, got a fair bit of luggage with him. Lets hope for some unveiling pictures later in the evening.
Nowt to do with the fee or the fact that he will break our transfer record but I will be genuinley gutted if this deal falls through. This kid looks the real deal, Tim Vickery on SSN earlier saying it was a bit of a risk at his age coming to the EPL for the first time, where the **** do they dig these people up from? He will rip the league up I reckon and will make a massive difference for us. Hopefully the players around him will up their games with him in the team. An on form Kenedy with Almiron in the team could be ****ing dynamite.
It is a big risk for both parties. The reality for us is we've paid 21m which is huge to us, and a significant fee regardless for a lad who has so far shone in Argentina and the MLS. With all respect to those leagues, they are not on the same level as the PL. The risk for him is obvious. His stock is high. He could have gone somewhere like Holland or Portugal. He'd have fitted in quicker and found an easier level. He has decided to take the risk of going to the PL because he believes he can do well. Good on him. I hope our fans are patient and give the lad time. I think it will take him some time to settle, but in 6-12 months hopefully we'll have a player on our hands. Plenty have looked and decided he was not worth the risk, we've taken the plunge. Arsenal would not have had such a close look in the summer if they didn't think there was something there. All in all, any big signings for 15m plus with clubs of Newcastle's stature is a risk. If it wasn't a risk then they'd already be at one of the top clubs. Its just nice to see us actually taking that risk is all.
Agree with the give him time. Thauvin and Cabella are two in recent times who if given time could have become good. Not saying they would but that they could have become good. Both had glimpses of talent but weren't given time to adapt or at least to see if they would or could adapt.
Agreed. But gotta be mindful it'll take time - he comes from a league that has Bradley Wright Philips as one of its' top scorers.
It’ll return when you let us have a nice comfortable win towards the end of the season at the sports direct arena
