Happens to almost every manager too. They all buy some duds. Rafa is worse than some, no worse than many and better than a fair few too.
You have to take these fake rumours as a whole - it's Almiron + Samaris + Barreca + another striker. And let's throw in Youri Tielemans for the giggles. And that's not even mentioning the Joselu and Manquillo leaving rumours...
Barreca is a done deal apparently: The ChronicleVerified account@ChronicleNUFC 3m3 minutes ago NUFC have completed a loan deal for Antonio Barecca, according to reports in Italy.
Jenas the reluctant goldfish nails it: "For the size of the club, it should be the norm. There’s kind of no point in doing these one-off type purchases and then neglecting it for another two windows."
If he’s half as good as HBA and puts twice the effort in week in week out it’ll be money well spent for me. Is he better than what we’ve got? Most likely Will he get the crowd on their feet? Most likely It’s a permanent signing for a club record fee if it happens but i agree on its own it’s not enough. It may just give us the lift we need and with players to come back and with another 2 incomings hopefully it should be enough to ensure that there are 3 teams ****ter than us over the remainder of the season. Where we’ve gone consistently wrong since our 5th placed finish under Pardew is to not build window on window. Dummet has been our only decent (and that’s a stretch) LB for years, that has to change. Yedlin has been our only useful RB (again a stretch) for a good few seasons now, that has to change. We have 4 wingers (kenedy, Ritchie, Atsu and Murphy) who are neither skilful or quick or can consistently put good crosses in, fundamental qualities for a winger in my book, that has to change. We’ve lacked an out and out 20+ goals a season striker for years (Shearer 03/04 I believe), that has to change. My point with that table of players wasn’t so much a dig at Rafa although I do think he has performed the worst in that area looking at our recent past. I think he’s suffering more from the conditions and limitations he has to work within. £128m is a lot of money to spend to not put any of those things right that I’ve listed above but those problems stem further back than before Rafa took charge. Time will tell as to whether or not we (and by we I mean Ashley and charnley) learn by past mistakes...I suspect not but we’re ever the optimists us lot!

Never thought that one was gonna happen to be fair. Wasn't gonna bother putting SSN on th'morra in my office but I just might now.
Would you take a punt on Charlie Austin? Still only 29....I reckon he could do a job for us and would be fairly cheap. If Rondon gets injured we'd be a bit knackered. I'd rather bring him in than see one of our relegation rivals, rumoured that palace are sniffing around !
Rumours abound that we are in advanced talks for Anthony Limbombe too. Replacement for a West Brom bound Murphy perhaps.
I thought he only moved to Nantes in the summer? I'd be surprised if they were letting him go already, especially having already had the sale and subsequent tragedy with Sala.
Perhaps. The reports are coming from French media but can't vouch for reliability. He's not been doing too well for them though.
