With you on Salisbury folk, what a ****ing weird, weird place. Your description of the inhabitants is spot on!
Funny how the people on here who sing the praises of Hull the most are not from there or have upped and left for somewhere else. There are worse places than Hull. Middlesbrough, Luton and, err, ... Funny how many people decide to sell up and move to a place that is supposedly such a ****hole.
You’re probably not well enough travelled given your continual use of Leeds, Norwich, Hull and erm Brid. Affordability is probably the main consideration. Prices driven by the fact there’s **** all to do and next to no prospects for the younger generation. Almost all seaside resorts in the UK are economic disasters. Equity release by selling a house somewhere nice, spending less on a house not as nice in Brid, releasing funds to fund days spent in the arcade and bingo halls or other such retirement pastimes.
I spent a couple of months in Salisbury and it was there where I went in a chippy and ordered fish chips and mushy peas, didn't even dream of asking for Haddock. What I was given was an absolute disgrace. Glennon... The fish was shaped and processed and no I'm not even ****ting you. In the bin and off I went for Pizza. Serving processed fish to an Ull lad. **** off, ****s
If you think Salisbury is bad, try the villages around about (no names.............no pack drill), very, very insular, dont like outsiders, dont like anything except farming, you want fun? **** off to Southampton they say. In many ways similar to rural Norfolk. Hate foreigners, outsiders, tourists you name it. Straaaange people
All seaside resorts are a disaster? Brighton, Bournemouth...? Poole? There are a fair few Southerners up here now. Was talking to one in my local a while back. Sold his place in a tower block he had bought under right to buy, moved up here bought a 4 bedroomed detached house near the sea front, treated himself to a Jag and let his wife install her dream kitchen and had enough left to pay for a few cruises. Had a nice pension from his job as well. A few have sold up in London and the Home Counties and moved up here, making enough to buy a bigger house and fund an early retirement. Which is an indictment of the imbalance in wages and the cost of housing of course. Someone moved in near me from Southampton able to do similar. Funnily enough when my mother passed away 6 years ago the couple who bought her house were from Norwich. Season ticket holders to Norwich City and were intending to carry on travelling to see them.
Had a holiday in Norfolk last year and found the locals to be very pleasant and friendly. Always found folk in Dorset, Devon, New Forest and Hampshire to be friendly. Maybe it is not them with the attitude problem?
I didn’t say all seaside resorts - I said most. Brid is more like Blackpool - but not as much glamour.
