Oooh. WBA have lost a lot of key players being recalled from loan. Ben Woodburn been called back from Sheff United. Now this?
Supposedly we're about to sign a CB from Luton, Famewo. I remember him being linked before, being described as a high-class defender, sounds like he's more ball-playing and intelligent than a brutish centre back. If he's been able to cope with the physical stuff in League 2, perhaps that's why we're interested? Nevertheless, unlikely to be a first team option this season. He's currently on loan at Grimsby, I wouldn't be surprised if we sign him from Luton and immediately send him back to Grimsby.
Looked him up last time we were linked. Don't know much about him. But got to trust the club with these youth signings. They know what they are doing at the moment. So
The apparent recall pending by Luton gives this one some legs and the fact that he is left sided and can left play LB as well also makes sense. "The Hatters prospect, who can play centrally or at left-back, was reported to have been the subject of a £300,000 bid from the Canaries on deadline day of last year. However, Famewo ended up joining League Two side Grimsby Town on loan, making 12 appearances – with Grimsby boss Michael Jolley confirming it looked likely Luton would recall the 20-year-old recently. HITC Sport claim Luton have cut short that season-long loan after accepting an offer from Norwich ahead of Thursday night’s transfer deadline." Could see him playing with the U23s initially to absorb our style of play and it'd be good to be developing a backup option for Lewis.
And roughly what we recently recouped from Bolton in loan fees / wages for Wildschut & Remi Matthews.
If we did sign him looks likely he will be playing for the U23's does that mean someone from the U23's might be upgraded to the first team like Lewis & Aarons were? Do not see City signing anyone for the first team in January
Was it really. Interesting. They were both from Luton too weren't they? This is a bit more exciting than at first glance.
Now a confirmed NCFC player will start life in the U23's https://www.canaries.co.uk/News/2019/january/akin-famewo-signs-for-norwich-city/
Aww, nice about his Mum's side of the family coming from here and supporting the club, and he also progressed through the Luton youth setup with Max and Jamal!
I liked this bit: "The 20-year-old will initially join the Club’s Under-23s side and has described signing for the Canaries as “a privilege”: “I’m just so happy to be here,” he said to canaries.co.uk. “I’ve been wanting to come here for a long time. Norwich is where my mum’s side of the family are from. It’s a big thing for me to be here because since I was young, I was always interested in Norwich and my family are big fans of the Club. It’s a privilege to be here." Seems well grounded. Hope he can follow on like Jamal and Max.
Another one for the Academy Side, this time it's a striker - Moroccan born Gassan Ahmade. Has played against Barcelona, RCD Mallorca, Real Zaragoza youth sides https://www.canaries.co.uk/News/2019/january/gassan-ahmade-signs-for-norwich-city/
Caleb Richards has apparently joined Tampa Bay Rowdies on loan. He plays LB. So I guess that means Famewo can slot in for the U23s right away, whilst Richards is getting first team experience elsewhere. Slightly surprised how short Famewo's contract is, June 2020 with an option for a year. Given he could well go out on loan next year, that isn't all that long.
Just seen this - https://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwi...y-s-second-youth-signing-of-the-day-1-5871243 I really like how SW is recruiting promising youff, as opposed to paying a 'King's Ransom's for players who are looking to top up their 'pension fund!!'
Interesting. Never heard of him or heard anything about him. So, do we recon we bought him? Or he wasn't on a professional contract so there was a compensation fee? Sounds like it would be pretty inexpensive, and if he's had a trial here and impressed the staff. Sounds promising.
I like Richards. He seems a decent lad and a decent player. Great if he gets first team football with professional older players. What do you recon that American league is like. Standard wise. Compared with, for instance, when Todd went to in the Dutch Championship. Can't be that different surely?
Sounds more like we've bought him and he's one of several who've been here 'on trial' and impressed enough to have been offered a contract. We MUST keep the recruitment process going to secure the clubsc future.
