I am hoping we make one or two signings, but I won't be angry if we don't. I will be disappointed though. If Wanyama is fit enough to play then we've got adequate cover in most positions but Vorm, Nkoudou and Llorente are our weakest squad players and we should be able to improve on them.
I highly doubt it. That would indicate we’re giving squad places to people who perhaps aren’t earning them. That’s something Poch would never do, he’s always of the ethos that you must earn your right to play/ be selected regardless of your age/ experience/ stature. Besides, there used to be a rumour that Vorm had a clause to play in all domestic cup competitions and as we can see, Gazza’s been the man for that this season and rightly so, he’s been superb.
Anyone know if Carlos soler of valencia is any good supposedly a summer signing target .I must admit I've never heard of him.
The Tielemans rumours are growing by the hour. If we sign him, it will literally be the happiest day of HBIC’s life. Spurs could win the Champions League and it still wouldn’t come close to the elation he’d have for Tielemans’ signing!
Heard of him but never seen him play mate. Transfermarkt says he plays as a RM or a CM so sounds pretty versatile which is always a bonus.
I agree that you can't have the right to play but do you think, say, Tielemans would sign if he wasn't guaranteed to at least be in the squad? I've never seen a footballer's contract but I'd be amazed if this wasn't part of it. It's the only logical reason why Vorm was in the squad and Foyth wasn't.
https://www.football365.com/news/poch-rejected-moves-for-three-players-despite-spurs-green-light Not much of a source but perfectly possible....
From what little I know of Valencia’s Soler, he’s basically a budget Isco or David Silva, albeit he’s 22 so 4 years younger than the former and over a decade younger than the latter.
Whereas Grealish being sighted in the Chick King eating chips would have you in continuous pants-down mode.
Generally teams don’t have a situation where they have to leave players out of a squad. We had I think 27 or 28 first team players at the start of the season, not many sides have that amount. A first team player would usually be guaranteed a spot based on the notion there’s 25 (or less) players with the correct amount of HG. Foyth was just an unfortunate casualty of a large squad and he was the most inexperienced young foreign player, I don’t think it has anything to do with Vorm or Llorente having clauses, they just made it based on being experienced players, plus Vorm was initially first choice backup at the start of the season so he was always going to be included. Theoretically we shouldn’t have the need for three foreign goalkeepers, even though all three have proven themselves in various stages in their Spurs career, it’s a complete waste of a squad position to have three foreigners for a position that only one can play in at any given time. I’d have no qualms if Vorm was moved on in the next couple of days and Whiteman was promoted.
