the tea lady's cat was heard discussing Antionne … something to do with a player exchange, plus add ons ……
It will be gutting to lose Semenyo so early on but honestly, if it helps us get 2 or even all of Kalas, Dasilva and Palmer then we'd be stupid not to. By all accounts Dasilva is a done deal should the player and City want to. Kalas and Palmer would be more tricky.
I’m not doubting Diony’s ability it’s just a typical RR comment about “statement of intent” when Hogan is currently living off one maybe two good years with Brentford. No doubt if he comes and is not that good he will blame the board for wasting money.

If this rumour is true then I hope for 2 things and the first is that hasn't bitten off more than he can chew so young in his life and ends up shattered by the big machine that awaits him. The second wish is that we might get a loan back for the rest of the season because quite frankly I can't see him getting much playing time and sitting on the bench, or playing in the reserves, is not what his career needs at this time in his early football days.
Please Steve L get this guy in and see us hit the play offs. Scott hogan??? Sky sports saying it’s between us or Sheffield United
Hogan free to leave Villa on loan. https://www.skysports.com/football/news/12691/11620540/scott-hogan-free-to-leave-aston-villa-on-loan
I think you're massively oversimplifying things RR. He's essentially failed at Villa - not to say that automatically means he wouldn’t be a success with us, but far from suggesting it would guarantee us a playoff spot. If he's likely to be so influential then I presume he's going to be one of the first names on the team sheet, so who does he replace? Fammy I suppose, right? I find this rumour interesting, but it's not getting me hot under the collar either - & I certainly wouldn't be criticising SL for not signing a blank cheque to make it happen.
If he does replace anyone it will be someone like Taylor who RR gets all hot and excitable about whenever he’s mentioned.
A proper goalscorer just what the doctor ordered I really think the way we play he would score loads. Just my opinion though.
In fairness this might be exactly why he could be a diamond for us. Just like Palmer was kept out of Blackburn by Dack, maybe Fammy is keeping a good player down too?
Though I wouldn't say playing two up front is fundamentally wrong, 4-4-2 is pretty out of vogue as it makes it very hard to control the midfield & 3-5-2 would likely stymie our wingers which I'd say is one of our strengths. Say this is close to our strongest lineup: Maenpaa Kelly/Da Silva Kalas Webster/Baker Hunt/Pisano Pack Brownhill O'Dowda Palmer Weimann/Eliasson Diedhiou I like that there's so much competition for places & wouldn't want to mess with the shape too much. Plus, if you want to play two up front you could do worse than move Weimann up there, or play Taylor. If a Peter Crouch type were available to play backup to Diedhiou then that'd be very interesting.
Whilst I agree with that, we can even use Patterson up front. Looking at that team our weakness is the middle of midfield. We’ve got two adequate replacements in Smith and Walsh but I would be very surprised if we see Smith again this season. We could do with an ageing midfielder looking for one last push (season) as back up for Pack or Brownhill as we are one injury away from a big hole.
I didn't think Smith was that far away & I'd describe him as more than just 'adequate' as a replacement for the other two - when all fit, little to separate them. Palmer adds some depth to central mid, though he seems more suited to playing attacking centre mid than defensive so do see your point. Is Walsh set to be out for that long?
I don’t think both are too long away, but until they are back playing you just don’t know. Smith I would think will virtually need a preseason when fit a bit like Bailey Wright did. I just see a potential gap being one suspension or knock to create a void.
