I was thinking the same....very easy to sign an online petition, not so easy for them to back it up and actually go spend money and make a difference
I'm not a Ferriby fan so I don't go to their games. I am however a local person and a football fan so I think it's right to support efforts to save them. I think thousands of people share a similar stance. Is that wrong? You seem very keen to see this situation from the unscrupulous owners' point of view; trying to find ways to make it the fans' fault. There's a touch of familiarity to that.
Lol yes there is a touch of familiarity your right, but as per you completely miss the point and go to the default comments. The post above mine says pretty much the same but you jump on mine as per. You think it's right to support their efforts and say your a football fan and a local...so why don't you go and pay to watch therefore supporting them as a local and football fan? Or do you think that signing an online petition is doing your fair share?
Of course it's my fair share. I wish them well but I'm not a Ferriby fan. They don't have very many fans because they're a team from a small village. That doesn't mean that those fans should be dismissed or ignored just because they are few. And it doesn't mean that the wider football family, including locally, can't express support for them. Arguing that all the **** they've put up with in the last few years is acceptable as the owners do, or implying the same as you do, just because there aren't many of them is complete ****e. It's Allam level logic.
There is a local interest who are willing to take them on if the current owners hand it over/throw in the towel. No or very little money available but there is interest. They have no intention to move the club elsewhere either.
Many Ferriby fans have stopped going, for exactly the same reason many City fans have stopped going, the ridiculous actions of the owners.
Never once have I said they should be dismissed or ignored. They have a choice, out money into the club or see it fold. Just because it's a football club doesn't mean it's any different from Any other business/club etc... If there's no money it will shut. We all look at football with rose tinted fans glasses on. But how's it any different from a local shop/restaurant etc that goes out of business due to lack of custom
North Ferriby has never been much more than a sustainable village team, however expectations naturally may have risen due their unprecedented success of recent seasons. They are probably at the right level now and could be sustainable based upon giving an opportunity to local lads (Hull and area) who are seeking to play at a higher level than local lower leagues they may currently be playing in. If the current **** owners want a team at Dunswell, then get out of Ferriby, form a new team, start lower down the league pyramid and crack on! If they'd have done that a couple of years ago then potentially as things stand they may be just one step lower in the pyramid anyway!
Have the NFU owners requested a name change to "Cabbage Patch Kids" yet ? Bound to produce high yields.
Absolutely no idea....I may be wrong but I'm sure OLM said previously it couldn't be used for anything other then recreation
In which case, it's leasehold - from Ferriby council presumably ? So mplooney's statement is incorrect, unless he was referring to the Dunswell site and that's freehold ? Not sure which location he was referring to, but either way seems a wrong assumption.
Ferriby and/or Dunswell site(s). ? Not sure who's referring to which plot of land here. I could be thick of course ! Edit: 'Ey up - Barnet just equalized !
If they could just get everybody born [& still living locally] at 'WOODGATES MATERNITY HOSPITAL' ~ I'm sure they could get a decent crowd ... https://www.eastriding.gov.uk/CalmView/Record.aspx?src=CalmView.Catalog&id=zNH13
