Swansea City v Birmingham City Competition - Sky Bet Championship Date - 29 January 2019 Kick off - 19.45 Venue - Liberty Stadium Hot on the heels of their emphatic 4-1 FA Cup victory over League One Gillingham, the Swans return to league action on Tuesday evening with a home match against Garry Monk’s Birmingham City. In their last Championship match, Swansea faced Sheffield United at the Liberty Stadium. The Blades started strongly but failed to take their chances in a goalless first half. Swansea made them pay with a second-half transformation which led to Oli McBurnie's well-worked winning goal. The hosts should have been out of sight soon afterwards but were thwarted by a flurry of brilliant saves by Dean Henderson in the Sheffield goal. Nevertheless, victory lifted the Swans up to ninth in the Championship, six points adrift of the play-off positions, although after Saturday’s Championship matches, the Swans slipped to eleventh. Tuesday night’s opponents, Birmingham City, have one point fewer and sit two places below the Swans. In their last match, the Blues lost 3-1 to high flying Norwich City at Carrow Road. Four goals in the space of 12 first-half minutes started with Teemu Pukki slotting in Jamal Lewis' cross for Norwich's opener. Birmingham levelled immediately as Che Adams smashed in a quality finish inside the penalty area from Jota's through ball. But Norwich regained the lead when Mario Vrancic found the bottom corner from 20 yards out and then Tom Tryball was left with a free header at a corner to make it 3-1. That result means that Birmingham City are without a league win in four. The Swans have played Birmingham on 34 occasions, winning 8, drawing 8 and losing 18. In the reverse fixture at St. Andrews in August, the Swans were somewhat fortunate to come away with a point in a scoreless draw. Looking ahead to Tuesday, the Blues will have the benefit of having a 10 day break since their match with Norwich, whereas the Swans were in action on Saturday. However, the Swans are in a decent run of form whilst the Blues are without a League win in four matches. Weighing both issues, I’m going for a 1-1 draw.
Monk will get his boys fired up for this one but hopefully we can put our chances away so going for 2-1
Hope home advantage will see us through. Legend Monk will be well up for this but i think we won't lose....... 0 - 0
They smashed us 0-0 at St Andrews so it’ll be a tough encounter. 1-0 to the Swans, Celina from 49 yards
Hi thicko how's it going ? you don't seem to contribute very much to anything football related , how's about giving me an insight into how you think the team are doing and what's the likely outcome tonight.
We have improved there is no doubt about that but we must not take it for granted that we will win. I dont think Brum are better than us but every now and again they can turn it on so we have to be aware of that. I'm expecting a close game but it is a game we can win but i would not be surprised if it ended 0 - 0 or 4- 0....It is one of them on a cold winter Tuesday night.....Wrap up warm those who are going...
anyone got a link ? I can watch it on my phone using sky red button, but that doesn't work on laptop.......
