We were ****, we deserved to lose. Campbell needs to start and we need some actual centre backs to play at centre back. Normally, I’d say a loss like this would be good in a transfer window, as it would be a wake up call and lead to new additions. But, sadly, it’s not going to happen.
Without actually checking I bet De Wijs has played more games this season than Mazuch has managed in his entire career
We could be forced to put the tea lady in defence and Ehab would still be too stupid and arrogant to notice that we desperately need sufficient cover.
Nigel sounded a bit miffed to be honest. As if he’s been putting names forward all window and for the reason that is ie Ehab they aren’t getting done. I would be annoyed an all. It cost us today and 2 points last week.
Well, it went the way I feared, this was bound to happen at some point, but I think with both Burke & De Wijs being out as Nigel said he smelt a downbeat feeling in the dressing room. There might well have been a backlash from losing a 0-2 lead last week, and coupled with the 2 central defenders missing, this affected the team. We are only an injury or to away from a crisis with the thinness of the squad, only one person to blame for that. Can we pick ourselves up now and get back to winning ways, that will be the acid test.
Agree. Admittedly, we didn't turn up in first half, but to go into the game with an unreliable sick note defender and a young kid, when Adkins has been very vocal about needing reinforcements is high level negligence. There has been fantastic team spirit and camaraderie built up in recent months, the big test is how the team now react to a run of indifferent results. But tbh, 2 months ago I'd have struggled to believe that we would have 40 points, be 12th and hopefully survive in the Championship. The great run had to end some time. We go again next week, bring on Stoke, UTT.
I wouldn’t even call him a competent defender. Every game he does a Paul McShane or two. He’s erratic and undependable even when he’s not injured.
Spot on Tigress. Just listened to Nige interview and thought it was his best yet. It was honest and told it as it is. No false positivity just an honest assessment of a team that has done well but now is stretched by a wretched lack of depth and a poor recruitment. I still say we are at least five players short and this means that players have to play with small injuries that get worse until they can’t play at all. That said the Mazuch situation can’t continue. He is just a liability we can’t afford. Nothing against the bloke himself but we are too thin to carry him.
