To suggest Hall could foresee how Ashley’s tenure at Newcastle would develop is simply garbage. If Hall could foresee this far into the future he would have monopolised the Lottery since it’s inception.

Accepted that Hall was simply out to cash in when selling the Club but to try and suggest he was obliged to seek a 10 year business plan from Ashley before selling is stretching reality to breaking point. No-one could realistically forecast how Ashley has run the Club.

To also say Ashley blames all NUFC fans for threatening Ashley’s daughter by a few again is stretching the truth to breaking point. And to say he’s kept that grudge for this length of time against all NUFC fans is turning Ashley into a pantomime villain that he pretends to be.

Anything and everything that is wrong with NUFC today can be traced to and blamed upon one man and one man only, Ashley. To say otherwise is to ignore the facts.

It seems that not many of the top clubs value the FA Cup any more
What with West Ham going out to Wimbledon etc.

MA is a smart man undoubted. Take the passion out of this for a second. Mike has a self-sustainable business, in the top 20 of richest clubs, and has spent minus towards upkeep, infrastructure and transfers collectively.

In that time he has amassed millions worth of advertising and publicity (none is bad with SD's rep) for his main venture, which cost him nothing. Yet, despite this, the club makes so much that some money some can disappear out of thin air....with no explanation as to where it went.

He will stand to make all his money back, and a little bit for pocket, on what has been a valuable side business/advertising point/safety net.

Yeah, what a moron. Things like commercial revenue are examples of pure spite, not a fool.

One of the fans' groups has spent actual money on DW Sports flyers to be distributed. The only thing missing in the irony of promoting Dave Whelan is not buying the flyers from Sports Direct. I mean, it's ****ing brainless, and this is what we're left with.

The problem as I see it is anyone with the mental capacity to demonstrate the kind of organised leadership required to do something useful will most likely have an actual job. It's worse than politics - bunch of big-heads with their own opinion that's essentially the same as everyone else's trying to make themselves the most relevant. Flyers, chocolate coins, tennis balls, sit-ins. What is ANY of this going to do??

I'm not even saying there's anything that CAN be done. But for me you have to look at root cause. Why is Ashley attached to this football club? Promotion of Sports Direct. What makes that more painful? Less exposure, interest from broadcast companies and relegation. The only thing fans can do to play a part in this is stop going. If it makes less matchday revenue, with considerably less support it will get relegated. If the fans keep staying away, getting out of the Championship becomes impossible. TV companies will gradually give up on the club and unless he then does something, i.e. sell, it's going to burn a £300m hole in his pocket. Whether he's even bothered by that amount, I don't know.

What do you guys think? My proposal would be stay away from the ground, even set up a kind of fun picket line with vouchers for local pubs, screens set up around the ground and a consistent effort to hand out a flyer explaining why staying away is the only choice we have of hurting the fat man.

People say "I've been going 50 years", or whatever - then NOT going for a few months really isn't going to hurt.

Yeah you don't agree because you are typical of Newcastle fans. Its the KK is a god, SJH was a saviour, Fat Fred never had us this low mentality. The reality is KK is a quitter and didn't have the stomach first time round when things weren't all rosy, and he was informed they needed to cut back because debts were mounting. His model wasn't sustainable, but he left Kenny Dalglish to deal with the next phase of having to cut costs. Kenny is a ****, KK is a god etc etc. Then you have SJH who you seem to think had no responsibility as an owner to check out the person he was selling to and ensure he wasn't selling us down the river. The reality is he gave us our english version of egotistical maniacs like Vincent Tan etc. The English version doesn't spend money. Thats ok SJH, its ok because you tell us you are a true geordie. SJH and Fat Fred took their money and ran, which is fair enough as hard nosed businessmen who didn't care about the club. As custodians of a club which is important to an entire city, it was appalling behaviour.

I do have to suck up the mess SJH left us with, and Fat Mike has worsened. That is what we've been dealt as fans. A succession of owners who act only for themselves. I accept it, that's football. I just don't like how some of the fans pretend that our own fans haven't played a part in making things worse, or that our previous owner wasn't the catalyst for this current scenario. He quite clearly was and still maintains today he did the right thing for Newcastle United.

The problem with that is the NUFC fan base. Too many brainless 'support the team, not the regime' and support through thick and thin zombies.

It is these brainless idiots that allow Mike Ashley to get away with his actions. By paying to go you are supporting 'the regime.'

He didn't need to see into the future. Ashley had a history of this behaviour well known all throughout business circles. He even told SJH he wasn't buying the club for football reasons. He gave SJH all the information, and all SJH saw was the £1 a share he had wanted. He knew he was ****ing Ashley over on the deal, SJH was getting a great deal. Ashley though was looking at the bigger picture. He knew he was getting a great deal too.

The premise that because SJH couldn't see into the future he is not responsible for leaving us with a **** like Ashley is laughable. Its akin to saying the fit and proper owner test the PL runs is fit for purpose. Just because they don't fully check out these dodgy owners, its not their fault we have criminals running around playing football club owner in this country. Just because its technically legal, it doesn't mean its correct. Just as not being able to see everything thats happened over the last 10 years, is not an excuse for handing over the reins to someone you either knew exactly what he was (you'd have to suspect so) or you didn't bother to even find out a little who you were selling to. The latter in some ways is worse. He didn't give a **** about our club when it came to the crunch, and he ****ed us over. If I knowingly sell a car with dodgy breaks to a man I know isn't going to bother fixing them before driving it on the road, and he then kills someone because of them, I can't just devolve myself of responsibility. Unless I'm stupid I knew he was going to drive that bastard car on the road so I have some responsibility for the death.

As for the fans, I wonder when one of our lot will be brave enough to step forward and say "you know what, that was wrong what those idiots did, and he probably has carried through on his threat to put us into purgatory as a result". Just accept it, they made a bad situation worse.

Unfortunately you can't just blame one man. It isn't reality. The fans played a part, SJH played a massive part.

Agree. The less publicity.. the less we are an attractive hoarding.

Mackems are pretty much anonymous now and few media outlets talk about them.

    There’s a lesson there.
