I went to that 7 nil hammering we were really crap that day but didn't put me off supporting spurs just makes you appreciate what a great club we have now and how far we have come
I was 11 yrs old, was at school in South eat London filled with plastic Liverpool fans...claimed they had real reasons to support them like their mum bought a Beatles record or some other bollocks ... taught me how cope with life's soul crushing disappointments
I have had so many arguments over the years with manure and mousers so called fans that live down south and have never been past bloody Watford going north .I've lost count how many times I've been to old Trafford and anfield even when we were crap fecking glory hunters
I went to the lane with my dad throughout the 60s but in the 70's went on my own or with a gang of mates , I went to all the league cup finals and the cup finals in the 80's ,we saw the good and the bad of our club some very bad, I remember a real bad tonking by Derby county but through this all I do not remember a constant gripe by the press and media that we have today. I'm not sure if it's my memory but can't think of any hack who had an agenda against us like today . Might be rose tinted specs but Match of the day and the Big Match just showed the game without the utter b*ll*x we pay for today. Spurs are my team my only team and I will support them win lose or draw to the end of my days.....COYS
The defeat by Chelsea made me think "this is where I came in." I was 15 (just) when I attended my first Spurs semi final....v.Man City 1956 Up to that match we had a plan.Tommy Harmer as a laid back winger, which worked. But for the City match our then manager had a brain storm and decided to play a center forward,Dave Dunmore, as an attacking winger. Didn't work.In fact we got so desperate that Danny Blanchflower sent our center half,Mo Norman into the attack but couldn't break City down.A ticked off manager took the captaincy away from Danny and sent him to the reserves. Funny thing.A few years later,a former Spurs player,Alf Ramsey did the same thing using a laid back left winger to confuse the opposition and lay on floating crosses to his two attackers......it worked.....and gave Alf and Ipswich a div 1 championship. I just wonder if the old Spurs are going to be known as the new millenium "nearly boys?" We continue to screw up when it matters!!!!
The spurs fans were excellent today ... and they have set an example for all imo...less whining and more singing COYS Yep...I went there you grumpy mo fos
