Yeah I think I might have glanced up from the copy of Antiques Weekly that I was reading at the time.
The goal I least celebrated was back in 1976. Some bloke called Stokes scored a late goal in a final. Questionable offside. Couldn't bring myself to run round the front room screaming at the top of my voice, jumping up and down singing or even crying.
Mick Channon paid for my trip to Cardiff in 2003, when his horse Naahy won a 3yold handicap at Newmarket at 33/1. So it all evens out in the end, though not for you.
Southampton 4 - 1 Swindon Southampton 4-1 Swindon Home Team Score Away Team Time Southampton 4-1 Swindon FT (HT 1-0) Lallana 15 Lambert 60 Jaidi 61 Barnard 90+2 I had a fiver on 3-1 at 18-1 and had to spend half an hour willing us not to score again I was just behind the Swindon goal in the 2nd half and that was where all the action was. We were all over them but kept missing and I was just starting to relax when Mr Barnard rose like a leaping salmon at the far post and nodded the ball in to the top corner right in front of me. If I ever see him I'll be telling him he owes me ...
On a similar note, Pahars nutmeg on Stam and goal at Old Trafford right in front of me, when I was sat on my own in the Stretford End... Boy, my tongue hurt.
After that Bournemouth game in league one, my mate, my brother & I unwittingly re-enacted that scene from Only Fools and Horses when Del & Rodney go back to their car after becoming Millionaires and look at each other in silence then go mental. We all walked back to the car from different areas of the ground (all in Bournemouth areas though) and got in the car in silence, looked at each other and went absolutely mental
My least favourite Saints goal has to be Leon Best's own goal in the play off semi-final, 2nd leg against Derby in 2007 - gutted!!
