@AllHellLetLoose this is ridiculous paper talk. Karlan Ahearne Grant will still be a Charlton player on the 1st February, and @Clb74 will be feeding me on the 3rd February.
@baraettmattesvensson 's biggest problem will be having to explain to Mrs Elf why he needs double his pocket money next week
7 days of the transfer window remaining. Duchatelet will sanction the sale of Grant to Huddersfield...on the final day of the window. Deliberately leaving Bowyer with no chance to sign a replacement.
Well, a Premiership team (Huddersfield) has shown interest, albeit as part of their preparations for the Championship next season. You seem very sure that Grant won't be leaving in January - you're not ITK are you? By the way, I'm a bit surprised Patrick Bauer has not gone already. Seems more likely than ever now that he will walk away for free in the summer.
Bauer will be in an identical position if Blackburn renew their interest. He has already publicly stated that he won't be renewing his contract with Charlton, regardless. The difference with Grant is that strikers tend to attract a premium, and heads will be turned by his 13 goals so far this season. In some ways it is similar to Ajose's one good season at Swindon - 25 goals that year, including tap ins and penalties, but the player turned out not to be very good. That is the case with Grant as well IMO. His all round game really is not very good (touch, hold up play, composure), and the standard of defenders in the Championship is far better. The best option would be to take a fee for Grant, and reinvest the money straight away in our own contracted players. Steve Gallen has repeatedly demonstrated that he is a good judge.
I'm not ITK, the nearest I have to that is Mr van Gerwen(he knows everything). I'm just working on why would a premiership team looking to stay up gamble on somebody with experience in the bottom two divisions. Strange Bauer has not gone, probably seeing out the contract to maximise his salary at his next club.
Alan Nixon @reluctantnicko 8m8 minutes ago More HUDDERSFIELD. Currently biggest bidder for Karlan Grant. 1.5. Others like BRENTFORD yet to match. Too rich for MILLWALL. He will definitely go before the end of the transfer window.
Just been told it's nailed on that Karlan Ahearne Grant has been offered 20k to sign for Huddersfield.
What we both know will happen if we take a fee for Grant is that it will go into Roland's back pocket.
A good test for Grant today - lets see where we are at 5pm, when he has played 90 mins without Lyle Taylor. He will be our senior striker today, alongside RHF I think our goals at Posh are going to need to come from the midfield.
