Inspired by Qwerty’s trolling and pressured by TLL and the lack of a weekend game. What is your least favourite goal or the least celebrated goal scored by the super saints? Perhaps it was a consolation goal after a hiding or it cost you a bet or it’s replayed ad-nausea or it was just a really bad goal. Reasons and video of the goal where possible please
Whoever scored to make it 1-1 against Hapoel. Was still too angry at how defensive we were and then the inevitable sucker punch. Makes me mad thinking about it
Gabbi's disallowed effort at Wembley, although it was celebrated quite a lot at the time....for a few seconds at least!
Talking of disallowed goals, this is surely the best/most unfairly ruled out one of all time. Answers on a postcard with you theories about why it was chalked off, personally I think it was all about our opponents that day.....
What, Noooooo. Virgil scoring that goal kept a lot of history alive, and made some more. That was the only good thing from the evening. And the traffic that night, oh my.
James Beattie`s goal at Aberdeen in 2003. Not that it mattered since the Dons won anyway. I was in the US working, so I avoided the quandry of who to support ! I`d love to see a Dons-Saints game before I depart this earh.
Alright **** it. The reason Long scored is we were already winning 1-0 so Liverpool weren't defending any more (I think some people actually forget this). And the reason we were in that position was that we defended amazingly well for 180 minutes (without Virgil) and Redmond got the goal. But no one liked Redmond or Puel back then so we all pretended Long sent us to Wembley. I'm glad everyone who went enjoyed it (honest) but it was probably around then I switched off from cups. Not only because of that season but because I never really felt like it mattered. So there.
But but but......Simms, Anfield, Klopp...........can't believe that night stopped the magic for you. Fantastic game, to go there after the first leg and be so resolute was one of the most unsaints things I've ever seen. I'm sad you didn't love Longs goal.
Yep, that Long goal is probably my best celebrated goal in recent memory. I think my Dad who lives in France and my Daughter in Atlanta heard me.
Now where's that Simpsons boo gif... Nah I do sort of understand where you're coming from but for me that whole match was so tense n seemed like it was going on forever. They were getting closer and closer and then in just a few magical seconds all that stress and tension released into ecstasy... You can't say that's no different to if it finished 0-0 and we celebrated the final whistle. We fully deserved to win both games too.
Sorry. I'm sure I'm wrong. I'm not trying to be the fun police. Actually now I've got it all off my chest I promise never to mention it again.
Mention it away, that's what we are here for! I like how we have different memories of games, transfers & players. Funny how time changes things as well, but always enjoy hearing others views.
