Leon Clarke linked to the Tigers Hull City have enquired about signing Sheffield United striker Leon Clarke, according to HITC. Clarke has struggled for game time this season at Bramall Lane, starting just nine Championship games and after falling down the pecking order he could be set to leave the club. The Tigers are one of four clubs to be named as interested, alongside Bristol City, Millwall and Wigan. please log in to view this image
Clarke isn't the exotic signing people I imagine were hoping for, but would you really want somebody who was going to come in and oust Campbell from the starting spot? Campbell, Martin and Clarke would offer decent cover for that position. And it would stop him scoring against us, if nothing else. Bagged 19 Championship goals last season and has 3 this season, so he's already ahead of Chris Martin. I'd take him.
I really can’t see Sheffield United loaning him out to a promotion rival in the same division. I wouldn’t, if they did it would be foolish. Imagine us replacing them in the play offs courtesy of goals scored by Clarke? They’re more likely to loan him to Wigan who are nearer the bottom and he’s been at Wigan before.
He really wouldn't. His only crime was scoring 4 against us. Compare that to our owners and what's happened to them (next to nothing); locally based owners who've disrespected the club and us fans numerous times, who've tried their best to rip the heart out of our club. We need a CF, and a CB, before the window closes. Clarke isn't what I was hoping for, but I guess I'd take him for the rest of this season rather than nothing. At least he knows where the net is.
Dunno if anyone has posted this, but it'll be like a new signing: The Strines are out of the Asia Cup and Jackson Irvine should be back for the Stoke game.
