4-2 to Chelsea on penalties. Knocked out by a rule change. Typical. I think we lost it on the Moura for Llorente sub. Didn't understand it and it took away any threat and our ability to hold the ball up.
Chelsea deserve it to be fair. We were poor in the first leg and somehow went into this one with a narrow margin, and we were terrible in the first half of this one.
We lost it by not showing up for 45 minutes.... Not saying the substitution helped but the damage was already done
Got what we deserved. Lucky to take it to penalties tbh. Squad needs reinforcements immediately. I won’t hold my breath though.
We got back in it, though. Scored, looked a lot more threatening and then took off the goalscorer and strolled to a penalty loss.
Don’t get all the flack Winks is getting. Eriksen yes as he’s been lazy for weeks now but Harry has at least showed intent and willingness to get forward.
TBH I don’t know what Lamela gives us anymore. He just ponces around on the ball and ends up giving it away.
I think Winks gets so much **** because our central midfield is crying out for a top top player, especially now Dembele has left. Our fans seem to take it out on Winks. Whilst I don’t think he’s anything to rave about yet, he’s a solid squad player. The reality is that we need to sign our next modric. None of the ones we have are stand outs.
Happy to take the digs for my RCLing( ) but he was rubbish. The only reason he scored is because Luiz decided to turn away from the ball and try to block the man before falling over. If he'd stayed watching the ball it was his all day. Oh well, we lost on pens, should have been a lot worse considering how many we were missing from the team. I just hope Pochettino is planning on resting the whole lot for the weekend because we can't afford to keep picking up injuries.
I did actually say that on the Prem board earlier on, still gutting to go out like this though. Anyway, me and @Bald Archie are on a flight to Moscow, gonna chill at @Hoddle Is A God ’s luxury pad while all the Spurs wumming goes on
Agreed. He gets praised for his 'commitment' but most is misguided and a waste of effort. Th incident with Azpilicueta summed him up. Pity - cos there is great talent in there somewhere as we've occasionally seen. But overall, while disappointing, we faced a top team without our 3 top strikers - and are still in 3 comps. Would have taken this in August.....
