Does that include the contribution of Scottish Banks to the UK's debt? RBS & HBOS both failed masively and were bailed out by the UK Government (not Hollyrood) - parts from being Banks, they have something else in common.

Having been born and brought up in Watford but with two Scottish parents I guess I support both countries though I am largely indifferent to Wales and N.Ireland. I have to confess though to not being particularly interested in International football - am I alone here ? Being a Watford fan is enough and I think most English club supporters are the same - club before country. Although my patriotism has been awakened a little since living in Germany ! Assuming that all Scots dislike the English is a fallacy. Maybe it depends a little upon region. Certainly they are not overfond of the Surrey living stockbroker type of Englishman, and have more affinity to people from the north of England - just as Geordies may have more affinity to Scots than to Londoners. But to enlarge the discussion a little - how important is the national team to you. If you where given a choice between England winning the World Cup and Watford being promoted which would you choose ? Second question, have any of you ever seen an England match live in the Stadium ? The third question, without looking it up can you remember the result of the last England match prior to the win in Bulgaria ? Last question, do you automatically support English teams in the champions league ?

Wow Cologne a few questions there!
No you are not alone as last nights attendance figures show!
1)Definitely take a Hornet promotion! although it would be nice to see an England WC win before I pop me clogs;)
2)Only for Rugby (twickenham) and Cricket Lords and Trent Bridge ! Havent watched the overpaid prima donnas!
    3) Was it the montenegro game cant remember the result!(so point taken:))
    4) No I detest Champions league money grabbing set up( should be straight knock out all the way like the old European cup!

    my answers for you Cologne

    1) WFC promotion any day of the week!!
    2) I saw England beat Estonia 3-0 at wembley, but only cos they were free tickets
    3) I thought it was a 2-2 draw with the Swiss
    4) I dont really pay attention to the UCL, simply cos it does not make any difference to Watford/.

It's not really dislike, it's fear. Like a small child frightened by an unknown noise outside the bedroom door, you're simply trying to get as far under the bed as you can, as far away from the noise as you can. So yes, you are right in a way - it is instinct.

I'd say that it certainly is a fallacy that all Scots dislike the English. There is, however, a more than significant number who hate with a passion the kowtowing-to-Thatcher-Tories, and with every justification.

As to the more important issues:
    1) Have witnessed both and Watford winning promotion undoubtedly was and would be more satisfying;
    2) The last time I watched England at Wembley they were world champions - but were having their crown exceedingly dented by the Scots <rofl>
    3) No!
    4) I would if it was just us, but otherwise no. But there again, I don't automatically follow Scottish teams either (on the rare occasion they make it through!). Like international football, the champions league is merely a distraction from the main business of following my club.

    1) Based on the level of expectation, and it takes more games, a promotion.
    2) Never watched the full side but did see the U21s at Brentford in the 80s. Like Norway, have watched the England cricket at Lord's (but that was in the 90s). Hoping to go to NZ to watch an England Test match there in Feb/Mar '13 for my 40th.
    3) No idea.
    4) Only if it means seeing how an ex-Hornet does. This season that's Cleverley, Johnson, Lansbury and Young. (Spot the odd one out of those 4)

Id rather wfc stay in the second tier than england win everycworld cup. International football is a joke untill profesionals take over from the clowns (latest story aparently england dont like fifa becausevsomeone weve never heard off lost an election in the 70's!!!!!

Its time the properly profesional assosiations established a proper structure- either that or abandon world cups the twits in charge at cant organise a decent tournament

I would take an England World Cup for sure as club football is so much more fluid, I have seem promotions and relegations and will likely see both again, (Unless I start supporting Hendon, something like 45 years without leaving the same division I believe).

I also have watched England several times in the last few years and would gladly go more often but generally baulk at the price for a competitive fixture. I will also support any English team in the Champions league and don't consider either that or international football as a distraction from supporting Watford because as far as i'm concerned there is no such thing as too much football.

    Bring it all on.
