In his pomp, for sure, but the problem is he doesnt produce that kind of form, week in, week out, like the very best players do.
Subjective - hardly comparing like with like ... could he go past players like Mahrez can? ... no of course not ... was he a better passer undoubtedly ... did he have a better shot on him? yes again - would he have been as effective in the Leicester City team that won the EPL? no he wouldn't have IMHO ... and his undoubted talent brought him no success as far as I can recall - so Mahrez has already been more successful ... Let me ask you this ... who was better George Best or Cristiano Ronaldo?
No overrating Libby - my honest opinion about Mahrez - backed by the facts in terms of his success in the game vs Le Tiss. Now I only saw Le Tiss live if we played Southampton - so apart from TV highlights it is rather difficult for me to give a fully informed opinion unlike some of the armchair know-alls on here
Ronaldo, for longevity, been playing at the top level for 15 years and still going strong. Best's hey day lasted 5 years, max, between 67 and 72ish.
yup, if he went to Madrid he would become one of the best, very quickly 1) Because he would likely be happier 2) Because he will be surrounded by the worlds best in almost every position 2) Because La Liga is trash and the level of competition outside of Madrid, Barca and Atletico is ****e
I never saw Best play. If you’re going to base your argument that Mahrez is better than Le Tiss on what they won then you’re basically a 9 year old.
So you base your opinion on longevity ... fair enough ... I got to see George play live when I was a lad ... for me the best footballer I have ever seen ... and even kids in Leicester wanted to be George Best when playing footie in the school yard ... now my view is based on George's dribbling skills ...naturally two footed and defenders just did not know which way he would go past them - his balance and speed were truly exceptional ... for me Ronaldo is a fantastic athlete but does not have the 'natural ability' that George possessed ... a two footed Messi who was also good in the air for his size ... and he took tackles and stayed on his feet that would have Ronnie screaming for his manicurist
You admit you only saw Le Tiss live a few times and then take a pop at armchair know alls. You’ve had a shocker over the past few days.
Very cut and dry mate. The best part about watching our club goes way over your head. Crack on though if you think it’s all about the Neymars and Mbappe’s.
Would Carragher have helped us win the title? ... would Giroud? ... no ... ... it's about how a particular player fits into a particular team ... the parts that both Mahrez and Vardy played were key to the success we had ... apologies if that has pissed a few of you off ... and Robert Huth did of course win 2 EPL titles with 2 different teams ... so he must have been doing something right
True, but you could also turn that around and say that if Best dished out some of the tackles in todays game that he did in his day, he'd be red carded in every game he played. And its hardly Ronaldo's fault that the game has become Pussified in the last 20 years, who is to say that he wouldnt have manned up if thrown in to 70's football and become a tougher payer.
OK Einstein, what is 'the best part about watching you club' that is going over my head ... in your own time... crack on
yeah he was a decent player, but he was second string for us, at best. At leicester he fit perfectly in to your jigsaw. I aint knocking your title win, god knows I have had to defend it from more than one sour faced bitter Spud. But that was a miraculous thing, those players being the right people, in the right team, for that one season. They all played out of the their skin, even the mediocre players like Huth, Morgan and Drinkwater.....having players like Mahrez, Kante and Vardy with them made them raise their game, like what Suarez did when he was playing alongside pap players at Liverpool
Au contraire ... Fosse having rather a blast watching you and the other glory boys blubbing ... "you don't understand ... supporting United is different ... we are an institution"
